I don’t know what K.M Moronova puts in these books but I devour them. Her characters are broken, full of darkness, yet love so hard get me every time. I love Cameron and Em so much. The push and pull between them was fantastic and made you feel for both of them for what they were going through. I knew the ending because I had read the description for the second book (so obviously not surprised) but I am SO mad at Nolan for what he had really been doing.

An absolute masterpiece. Dark, magnetic, and unforgettable.

Returning to the Dark Forces universe in Your Knife, My Heart felt like coming home in the very best way. K.M. Moronova pulled me right back into the shadows, and I loved every second of it. Cameron had me in an absolute choke hold—his presence on the page was magnetic and impossible to resist. Emery’s spirit shone through beautifully, giving the story both fire and heart. This book reminded me exactly why I adore this world so much—Moronova has once again delivered a masterpiece I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

I should have learned from my first KM Moronova book that she was an author who was not afraid to rip my heart out. I had no idea THAT was the ending we were heading towards. I’m still shaking my head in shock.

As mentioned, this is my second book by this author and absolutely will not be my last. Her characters have flaws and might be a little twisted, but you still can’t help but root for them, especially for them to be together. Her storytelling has turns that take us in all directions. We start at point A with Em and then jump to Cam and then back to Em seeing Cam reacting to Point A from a moment ago. I absolutely loved that this is dual POV because it really lets you understand the way of thinking that Cam has and just how desperately Em wants to help him. The question though is, does Cam want to be helped?

Something that I’m hoping to better understand in book 2 is the motivations of our fringe characters, especially General Nolan and Erik. Whose side are they really on?

Extremely grateful to the author, KM Moronova and the team at Bloom / Sourcebooks for putting this up as a “read now” on NetGalley for a couple days! It was the perfect genre switch up at the perfect time for me!

your knife, my heart- k.m. moronova🔪🫀🖤

another AMAZING, dark, military romance from the queen herself😍THIS WOMAN. i don’t think there will ever be a book of moronova’s that i do not LOVE. she manages to hit me in the feels. EVERY. GODDAMN. TIME.❤️‍🩹

the characters she writes are beautifully broken. written with the deepest, darkest stories and trauma and I EAT IT UP EVERY SINGLE TIME🍽️😮‍💨.

cameron, cameron, cameron👀. lemme tell you, he is gonna be another book boyfriend to add to your list FOR SURE😮‍💨. but my god, did my heart break for our girl emery MULTIPLE TIMES💔.
he is such a broken man, he knows he’s a monster. but emery? she finds him beautiful and cares for him even through all the chaos, even knowing that her life could end at any moment at his hand.

emery, has been dealt SUCH a shitty hand but, she embraces it and goes with the flow, despite having wanted other things in her life. she is SO patient & powerful. no matter what is thrown her way, no matter how scared she gets, she embraces it and goes in for the kill. quite literally. she is a BADASS!😍

with deceit, trauma, action, addiction, wanting, denial, lust & raw emotion, moronova delivers YET AGAIN.

BUT THE ENDING?! grillll, i needed book 2 YESTERDAY!!! WHAT😭😭😭

i am SO GRATEFUL to have gotten to read this early, AGAIN!😭 thanks to netgalley! i feel so so blessed🥹.

Well, well, well.... that was absolutely incredible. I AM thoroughly mind blown and wrapped up in another K.M. Moronova book. I LOVE everything this woman writes. This was violence meets bada$$very meets romantic tension meets complex emotional turmoil. And the morally black mmc was absolute deliciousness. The spice, YUM. The pacing was so quick and easy to dive into, and as soon it started, I never wanted to leave the pages.

This was so hot. I'm flushed. MMC's one goal is to not kill the fmc, because he is a tad bit (lot bit) psycho. But they have intense chemistry and just wow. They're forced together in intense survival trials. Let the games begin.

There's also some incredible dark banter. And what a twist at the end!! Amazing 👏

😮😮😮 This book was an absolute delight-- in a murdery, psychotic way. This book felt like the author took Leave Me Behind and cranked it up a few notches. IT. DOES. NOT. STOP. The action & killing is start to finish. (Check those triggers! This is a brutal book!)

🔪Dark Military
🔪Enemies to Lovers
🔪One Bed
🔪Deadly Trials
🔪Tortured MMC
🔪Mental Health Rep
🔪Forced Proximity

Emery Maves finds herself secretly whisked away from a prison she was sitting in following the betrayal of her crime family. She must find a way to adapt when she is told she is now part of the Under, a bootcamp for men & women to train to become part of the military Dark Forces. She is partnered up with Cameron, "Mori", who has a nasty little habit of killing anyone he is paired up with. If she can make it through the Under--and the 3 deadly trials-- she will have earned her place in the Dark Forces and potentially her freedom.

Cameron "Mori" has known nothing but dead and killing since he became the militaries favorite guinea pig. Taking handfuls of experimental drugs has turned him into a ruthless killing machine who feels nothing. No pain. But at what cost? His mind betrays him at every turn, but his heart makes space for a pink haired recruit who he finds himself partnered with. He could maybe love her-- if he doesn't kill her first.

💔🔪 "So you think you're special, don't you? That I won't tear out your heart."💔🔪

AND THAT ENDING!!! Huge cliffhanger 😮😭

KM Moronova is quickly becoming a must-read author for me! I can't wait for book 2 in the Dark Forces duet!!

I didn’t want to put this book down! The plot was there, tension was there, and the spice was there!
Cameron & Emery gave me ALL THE FEELS. Truly, every emotion possible hahah. The cliff hanger at the end .. perfect!

I am on the edge of my seat waiting to read book 2!

Born into a world of pain and neglect, Cameron's life is a grim experiment. After a childhood marked by a mother's attempt on his life and a father's absence, he is given experimental pills that have proven fatal to everyone except him.Known as Mori, or "no pain," he's a psychotic killer in the Under, addicted to the very pills that have made him invincible.
Emery's life is the opposite: a gilded cage of wealth and privilege, broken only by her family's dark legacy as assassins. When a family member betrays her to the police, she's taken in by the general of the Under and thrust into a world where survival is the only rule. This is where she meets Cameron, a teammate she's told to fear but must learn to trust. As they're forced to work together, their shared addiction—a love for the kill—brings them closer. This dark romance explores the twisted path from violence to love.
Loved it!!! Definitely recommend

AHHHHHHHH. FUCK ME THIS IS SO GOOD. Literal perfection 😩. For sure one of my top reads this year. I can’t explain to you how freaking good this is. I devoured this so quickly. I’ll be impatiently waiting for book 2 because that ending is not acceptable 🫣 I’m so insanely happy I got to arc read this, I couldn’t wait until November.

Cameron is every kind of dangerous and I loved it. He’s lethal, unpredictable, the wrong kind of addictive, and that drug that wrecked his control only made him worse. But underneath all the bloodlust there are these moments of softness that hit even harder because they shouldn’t exist. Makes it impossible not to fall in love with him 🤭

Emery, ugh I love her. She’s smart, calculating, and refuses to let the brutal world of the Dark Forces break her. She’s a survivor in every sense, but what makes her stand out is the way she isn’t afraid to see beyond Cameron’s madness. They’re both a little unstable, broken and that makes them fit. Their relationship is messy, sometimes toxic, but you can’t look away from it, like they’re THAT GOOD

I read this book in one sitting! If you loved Leave Me Behind, you will absolutely love this one. This is set in the same universe, which really opens our eyes to this world KM created and gives us more context for every book that will be part of this world. Our MCs were perfectly broken and unhinged and as always, I loved seeing some trauma bonding and healing between them.

This book is an emotionally charged journey and I found myself kicking my feet, audibly gasping, crying, laughing….I’m sure my husband thought I was losing my shit while reading 😂 everything we witness felt very intentional and essential to the storytelling, even the parts that were tough to swallow 😩

The ending has left me 10000% UNWELL but completely craving the next book in this amazing duology! My bar for this was high and it exceeded my expectations 🫡

Thank you to NeGalley, Bloom Books, and K.M. Moronova for the opportunity to read and review Your Knife, My Heart with my honest thoughts and opinions prior to publication.

This is the first book in the new Dark Forces series, with some references to Leave Me Behind if you've read it (Which if you haven't, why not? You totally should!).

Moronova knows how to write dark romance; especially with a special forces/military setting. Here we have a Dual POV told by Emery "Maves" and Cameron "Mori," two of the most twisted and unhinged minds to exist. Em is recruited from prison, incarcerated due to being a notorious "executioner" for her mob family. Cam is already a member of the Fury squad, but is newly tasked with keeping his new partner alive (he has a bit of a pesky habit that I'll let you read about) during the Under Trials, which every new recruit needs to survive in order to be placed on a squad.

In between trying not to trust or get to know one another beyond a superficial level, somehow these two let each other in and ... cue music ... fall in love. It's not entirely what you think - this is not butterflies and rainbows. This is dark, twisted, and sinister. Somehow, though - what both of them needed. Now they can't live without each other.

There are some insane twists and turns in this book, and with that crazy cliffhanger I know there is way more than meets the eye in book one. We'll have to wait for book two to get the full details, but I have a lot of theories in my head and I can't wait to see what happens.

📚 ARC Review 📚
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Thank you, NetGalley!

Your Knife, My Heart, the first book of K.M. Moronova's new Dark Forces series, releases this November 11th, and YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS IT! As always, K.M. has created another masterpiece!

This book has an underground, militarized setting, where survival depends on obedience and ruthlessness. Cameron Mortem has a bad habit of "accidentally" killing his partners. He's clinically insane and the guinea pig for experimental drugs for the dark forces. He's unstable, and because of his continued killing of his partners, he is sent back to the Under Trials, where he is tasked with keeping his new partner alive. Emery Maves. She is a convicted killer, but her life is spared from execution, and she is to survive not only the trials but also her unstable and dangerous partner, Cameron.

However, her life is one he is unable to take. They're reluctant to trust, but their bond is forged, and the tension is whewww. 😏

This book was absolutely beautiful. It represents love in the darkest parts. And that ending??? I CANNOT wait for book two!

Tropes:
🔪 Dark Military Romance
🔪 Forced Proximity
🔪 "I can fix him."
🔪 Enemies-to-lovers? Sort of.

"She is my morphine, and without her, I'm nothing more than an aimless monster."

thank you Bloom Books & NetGalley for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is my third book by K.M. Moronova and they just keep getting better and better. I wasn't sure that I would enjoy it since Leave Me Behind didn't immediately have me in love with dark military romances and special forces. However, Your Knife My Heart brought so much drama that I had to force myself not to devour the book in one sitting so I could let the tension set in.

I loved the little tidbits that reference characters and squads from Leave Me Behind, but you don't have to have read it in order to be fully immersed in this story. The relationship between the main characters is so twisted, but the writing is so good that I can't help but root for them! I don't get how miss Moronova gets me to sympathize for characters whose murderous pasts are described in great horrendous detail. Or maybe I just realized I love a tortured psychopath?

I can't believe that ending! I'm going to go sob until book 2 comes out and relieves me of my sorrow.

**Spoilers**
I have barely been able to wait patiently for this book since reading leave me behind. Never knew a dark military romance would interest me, but K.M. Moronova made it happen. I didn't hesitate to sign up to read the ARC for your knife, my heart. Devoured it as fast as I could. I don't think I can wait patiently again for the second book. Especially with that cliff hanger.

I LOVED the morally black MMC that keeps you questioning if he will kill the FMC. You're hoping he won't, but gotta love that about a dark romance that there is a possibility."His one directive? Don’t kill the new girl". You truly just need this one sentence to catch your interest.

Cameron and Emery had amazing banter and tension. The spice between the two was hot and a little twisted. Amazing action-packed plot that will keep you excited for the next chapter. The dark, violent themes keep you anticipating seeing who will kill or be killed.

Tropes:
• F*ck it
• Forced proximity

“See? That’s your problem. You toss around your heart like it will earn you something. Caring for others will get you nothing. Let me be your first disappointment on that front. You will lose that part of yourself. It might as well be sooner than later because by the end of the trials, you won’t be any better than me.”

I adore K.M. Moronova books so when this became available, I jumped at the opportunity to read Your Knife, My Heart. And of course she delivered an amazing book once again. I was hooked from the prologue and knew I was going to adore Cameron. He is dark, gritty and dangerous but under all that is a boy that just wants to be accepted. I cannot wait for the next book and know it’s going to be just as amazing.

K.M. Moronova, you did it again! Leave Me Behind had me in a chokehold I didn’t know I needed for the Dark Forces series, and Your Knife, My Heart somehow took it even further. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book.

First off. Cameron. 🥵 He’s the ultimate red flag wrapped in green flag habits. (He braids her hair… if you know, you know 👀).

From start to finish, Your Knife, My Heart keeps you on edge. You never know if Cameron will be hot or cold, or what sinister plans the Dark Forces are hiding. The ending? Absolutely gut-wrenching and heartbreaking.

I loved getting more insight into the Dark Forces world; how cadets are chosen (or eliminated) added so much depth and intensity. There’s so much to unpack here, not just with the world building but with the characters themselves. Need book two ASAP.

Huge thank you to Bloom and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book early. I can’t wait for more, and I’ll always be here supporting K.M. Moronova!

What?? No no no no. Idk how to wait for book two. I’m obsessed with Cam and Emory. The way he is literally ONLY soft for her and barely even her… makes your whole heart melt. I can’t wait to hear what happens next in this duet.

The tension and yearning made me feral in this. Cameron is a platinum blonde psychopath and he is darkkkk but so yummy at the same time. There were many twists and turns and you never know what is going to come up next which made this so enjoyable. I was hooked from the first page and read this is one sitting.
