I was enthralled from the first page! This is a fast paced action filled dark romance. It centers around a secret military branch (Dark Forces) that operates under the radar to do the militaries dirty work and they recruit the worst of the worst in society. The two main characters, Cameron & Emery, have such a good push and pull dynamic. The characters have depth and dimensionality to them which makes the story more alluring and what gets you invested in their story. This book is Suicide Squad meets Call of Duty meets dark romance! K.M. Moronova writes for all the Emo kids. Her books are full of raging emotions and that’s what I love the most about her writing. I Highly recommend this book!

This was my first K.M. Moronova book and I INHALED it in mere hours. I went in completely blind… like I thought it was a fantasy book about a dude who unlives his romantic partners— see totally blind haha. This book reminded me of the Japanese film Battle Royale meets Hunger Games vibes but military-esqe.

This book is perfect. I loved every second of this chaotic heartbreaking story. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer! The main characters connection is so beautiful and heart wrenchingly perfect. I love them so much. The writing speaks to my soul. I’ll never forget or get over this book!
Thank you for the arc NetGalley!

Review:
This has officially dethroned A Ballad of Phantoms and Hope as my favorite KM Moronova book. I loved Leave Me Behind, but this was on a whole different level. We get to see a lot more of what makes a Dark Force soldier in this and I really liked that aspect of it. If you’ve read Leave Me Behind then you will also see a familiar face. I loved the dynamic between Emery and Cameron. They’re so similar in their twisted demented ways, but at the same time they pull parts from each other that they thought they lost long ago. Emery is a badass and honestly kinda scary. She is the product of her circumstances of growing up in a wealthy powerful criminal family, and was groomed to be the perfect executioner for her family. There is a lot that is left unanswered when it comes to her family by the end, and I’m really excited to see what is going to happen with all of that in book two. Cameron is like my perfect MMC - fucked up, doesn’t believe in love or think he’s capable of it, and is riddled with trauma. He is absolutely ruthless when we see him in his element, and it’s no wonder how wary all the other cadets are of him. But Emery brings so much fire to him because she’s stuck with him and he’s got a pattern of killing his previous partners, she isn’t going down without a fight. Emery is like me, and loves a broken person and wants to help him and ends up caring for him more than she should. Their push and pull game is so deliciously tension filled, and when they finally give in to their attraction it is so fucking hot. One particular scene will live in my head rent free for a while. Now I’m no newbie to Mrs. Moronova, so I knew that this ending was going to be brutal and I was very much correct. She yeeted me right off that cliff with no safety net, and I’ll be down here sobbing and begging for book two ASAP.

That ending left me shook! I hate cliffhangers but I’m so glad I read this, even if it did destroy me in the process. I can’t wait for the sequel!

CAMERON!!!!! 🫠🫠🫠🫠

When I say I ate this book up oh I devoured it! 6 freaking stars!!

So we’re already family it’s the Dark Forces but now we’re learning allot more. You def get a back story while the book progresses on how they are forming these teams

I loved the dynamic between Cam & Em it’s very enemies to lovers but still enemies except not really lol they both feel something for each other but Cam I feel like is dealing with a whole lot of mental shit n abuse from Erik and/or Nolan on what he’s worthy of and he just cannot imagine someone like Em caring about him.

I’m dying to read the conclusion cause that ending omfggg I have questions was she lying or was that a for real outcome of what he did 😩😩😱😱

Thank you to Bloom Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book. Firstly, I binged this book - it is one you won't want to put down and despite its trigger warnings and subject matter, I just kept reading and reading - I love a good dark romance, so no issues there, but check it out if you have sensitivities. Firstly, Ms Moronova, Ma'am, that ending?!?! You did not just leave us there. Seriously!! Okay, so yes you did and yes, I'll be picking up book two as soon as my grubby little hands can get a copy of it - I have to know what happens. I'd describe this book as urban-fantasy-military, with a dark romance plot woven in, but it all works and works well. LOVED IT!

Your Knife, My Heart is tagged as "Dark. Deadly. Irresistible." And it definitely lives up to it!

This was the first book I've read by K.M. Moronova and I can confirm all the hype about her books is very well earned! I loved Your Knife, My Heart and everything about it.

Both the FMC and MMC and likeable and relatable if a little bit dark and disturbed. The chemistry between the two if perfect.

This book is very well written. I loved the attention to small details in the book when it came to the world building and charachter descriptions. The dialogue between multiple charachters also flowed really well and I was never confused as to who was speaking.

There's just enough blood and gore to make it interesting and not be disgusting.

The story itself is very well paced and didn't leave me bored for one moment!

I cannot wait for the release of the second book!

first and foremost, I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read The Fabric in Our Souls over a year ago which is also by the same author, and I fell in love with her writing style. The darkness she brings to her book is a different level and personally, make me feel apart of the book. So when I saw this story, between the cover and synopsis, I KNEWWWW I needed a copy and WOOO I was NOT disappointed.

I will state this is a DARK book and may not be everyone's choice and I highly recommend reading the trigger warnings etc.

Now to the story - From the moment I read the first line, I was hooked and did not stop. I read this entire book in one day because I HAD to know what happened. My heart pounded every chapter between what goes on in The Under. Honestly, I genuinely do not know if I could explain this book without telling someone to just hang tight, grab a copy, and enjoy the ride.

The twists, omg. You expect them and they are perfectly placed but you truly don't know what the MAIN plot is until THE END and that ending, man oh man.

Moronova, you broke my heart again and ripped it but I cannot wait to read more from you.

The HEARTBREAK

I’ve never been so emotionally exhausted by a book. But like in a good way.
I spent so much of this book wanting to hug Cameron. You really do get to see why he is how he is. He just wants to be the perfect soldier, and I mean, really why wouldn’t you?

Emery - girl I love you. She was so angry but still felt so much. I adore FMCs who are full of rage but also full of purpose and love and that truly was her.

I loved the idea of wanting to fix eachother in this book because it wasn’t written like “I need you to change for me” it was more just “I love you, broken and dark and everything twisted I wish you saw yourself how I did” kinda vibes.

The ending has truly gutted me and I don’t know how I’m expected to move on from it really.
Honestly thank you to Mrs Moronova because this book made me FEEL things.
Also the commentary on society that was underlying all throughout - GIRL it was perfect

Oh. My god. I devoured this book in A DAY. It truly brought me out of a reading slump. This modern day fantasy novel is a true thrill ride. The plot is easy to understand and follow, but those twists will get you girl.

Cam is an all around sweet boy who would die for his woman. I mean sure…. He may be a psychopath who’s a literal weapon for the dark forces, but he’s a lover. Whether he truly knows that about himself is up for interpretation. He would quite literally kill to ensure Em is safe and protected from the world.

Emery isn’t a perfect person. She knows this. But when given a new lease on life with the Dark Forces, she has no choice but to do what she can to survive. Being paired with Cam means that her chances could go up. However, they can also go down 😉.

You’ll like this book if you like
- enemies to lovers
- “Touch her and die” energy
- Tragic backstories
- Spicccccyyyy scenes.
- Special forces/ military actions
- Cliffhangers
- Blond haired psychopaths

Thank you to bloom publishing, KM Moronova, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I haven't read any dark military romance before, and after reading this- it's clear to see that I've been missing out!
Cameron is our platinum blonde, scarred, sexy unhinged MMC who can't stop killing his partners due to an experimental drug.
Enter Emery. She kills people for her father, and is sent to the dark forces to take part in the Under Trials, and is partnered up with Cameron.
Her job? survive.
His job? Don't kill her.

The pacing, plot and spice was all on point, and I can't wait for the sequel.

I rate this 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and highly recommend reading this.

As a side note, this is the second book I've read by K.M. Moronova, and im so loving her writing style that all her books are going on my automatic read list.

Thanks goes to Netgalley for sending me this eARC.

*Your Knife, My Heart* by K.M. Moronova is set in the same brutal and addictive world of the Dark Forces as Leave Me Behind🖤. I was beyond excited to read it and man, it did not disappoint! I couldn't put it down own, making it yet another one of K.M. Moronova's books added to my favorites shelf. Her poetic, dark writing is brilliant and keeps me hooked until the end, then staring at a wall, wanting for more.

This book lets us readers into the selection, training and trails of the Dark Forces soldiers. The main characters are both troubled, unstable and brutal in their own way but bring out the light in each others darkness and it's so, so beautiful. Cameron "Mori" (platinum blond hair and a British accent... swoon!🖤) has been made into a ruthless killing machine by his time in the Dark Forces. Experiential drugs have thoroughly messed with his mind, and he feels neither pain nor any real emotions. Emery is thrown into the twisted, brutal world of the Under (the bootcamp and trials of the Dark Forces) and tied to Cameron as she figures out how truly ruthless it is. He's her only safe place and her greatest threat. She sees beauty in all his broken pieces. Their connection is messy and unique in a world that is full of backstabbing and deceit. There's forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers romance, action, violence and spice. It's written with dual POV and there were so many lines that stuck with me. The story leaves off on a huge cliffhanger and I need book two immediately!

Thank you K.M. Moronova, Bloom Books and NetGalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion🖤

Your Knife, My Heart is a dual POV dark romance between a mafia daughter and a homicidal maniac in a series of violent trials. I kept hoping the FMC would stop being so helpless and relegated to the MMC's useless sidekick given her supposed back story. The MMC had to nonstop babysit her to keep her alive! I honestly thought there was going to be some magic/fantasy component to this story with how much the author emphasized the FMC's very pink hair that never fades or shows roots during the weeks? (months?) this book covers, but alas. The MMC was over the top dark and twisty, and their dynamic and dramatics felt silly to me at times. (No, you can't fix his mental illness and tragic back story!!!) I would have thought they were in their teens, honestly.

The black ops military setting and premise didn't make a lot of sense, but it's not really crucial for the story. (I also haven't read any of the author's other books in the series where this is all likely explained more.) I appreciated that the story was fast paced, making for a very quick and easy read, and I was entertained from start to finish despite shaking my head often at their antics. I really don't care for this cliffhanger, however, so I will not be continuing with this series.

Thank you, Bloom Books, for the arc!

4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

I was craving dark romance, and when I read the description of this book, I knew it was going to be perfect for me. I was not wrong.

Cameron is so hurt and damaged that he cannot see reality properly, and everything he sees is death. Until her. When Emery makes an appearance, he (reluctantly) starts to question everything he used to believe in because with her, he feels, and that's not something he knows how to process.

Emery has a lot of baggage as well, and at the beginning she is really scared of the place she has been brought to because she doesn't know what to expect or how to behave.

It's very interesting to see the way they navigate their relationship and how the feelings appear.

The trials got me really hooked and I couldn't put the book down until I finished. I didn't expect the cliffhanger at the end and I screamed. Can't wait to see how the second part of this story unfolds.

100% recommended.
Happy reading! ❤️

P.S.: I want to torture General Nolan and for him to suffer a really slow death.

Thank you net galley for the opportunity to read and review. O my gosh this story was everything!!!!! That cliff hanger!!! I honestly can’t wait until December and we get part two.

Dark, tormented, possessive, unhinged, traumatic past, morally black but can be soft(er) for her.... Meet Cam, you can't help but fall for him.

Oh there is just something about unhinged men that K does so well... I don't know what she puts in her books but it keeps me coming back for more... It's probably the emotional damage, I'm a glutton for punishment I guess.

I think Cam and Emery just took the top spot away from Bunny and Bones from her other military romance...

That ending sets us up for so much possible pain to come...

I had so many highlights in this book as I went through, here were some good ones with no context as to not give away spoilers:

"I realize that I was right all along. Beautiful men cannot be trusted."

"I’m a reflection of what I see before me— something wicked and unfairly damaged. Chaos."

"You either get down and dirty with the heathens or I’m afraid the Dark Forces will eat you up, pretty girl.”
