Instantly I knew diving into this world again I was in for an amazing and wild ride! K.M. has done it again with both writing the spiciest and most thrilling book. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was next and the ending nearly took me out! I am still in absolute shock on the cliffhanger and cannot wait until the second book comes out! Thank you for allowing me this opportunity!

This book was an absolute blast!! I went into it not knowing anything about the plot. I was first hooked by that stunning cover design (seriously one of the most beautiful Iโve ever seen), and the sprayed edges? SIGN ME UP. What I found inside was even better: a dark military romance thatโs equal parts unhinged and swoon-worthy. We get games and trials/great flashback scenes, and top tier I CAN FIX HIM energy. The MMC is downright certifiable, yet somehow KM Moronova made me empathize with him, and that is no small feat because that boy is nuts. ๐ The chemistry between the leads is electric- all yearning and tension. Grab this book when it releases in November, you wonโt regret it!
Thank you to Sourcebooks and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was such an intense and emotional read that pulled me in right from the start. The writing had this raw edge to it that made the darker moments hit even harder, and the romance carried a lot of depth and tension. I loved how layered the characters felt, especially with their flaws and vulnerabilities on full display. A few parts got a little heavy-handed, but overall it added to the dramatic, angsty vibe. If youโre into dark romance with high stakes and plenty of emotion, this one definitely delivers.

Probably one of my favorite reads this year. I have been eagerly awaiting this read and when I saw it was available on Netgalley I jumped at the opportunity to read this ARC. I devoured it. K.M. Moronova killed it. She writes the most beautifully tormented, violent, unhinged, and yet devastatingly tender, romantic MMCs. Cameron made my heart bleed. He could not stand to be cared for by Emery, yet that is all he craves. Both have been messed up by what life has put them through. The training and trials were intense and that ending....oh man. I cannot wait for the second part of this duet. Ugh so good.

You know that shrek meme? Need you to know that was my face whenever I looked at my imaginary camera in my room.
Me to myself after catching myself giggling and kicking my feet: no because it really is quite serious
I don't really go out of my way to read dark romance since I tend to like it a little fluffy at times because life is shit, but listen I'll always eat up the mmc who is a psychopath who goes from crazy to crazy protective, and yeah girl dinner is served besties.
This was like when you're craving that chocolate cake from Matilda because you want something yummy and delicious to hit the spot. The writing was fun and addictive and the storyline was tense and a little gory. I even loved the side characters!! and the COVER??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS.
ALSO HOW DARE IT END LIKE THAT?? NEED THAT NEXT BOOK RIGHT NEOW
Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Bloom Books and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review!
Cameron is clinically insane and a deadly operative in the Dark Forces. An experimental drug has made him unstable, and he canโt stop killing his partners. As a punishment, heโs forced back into the Under Trials, a deadly boot camp. His one directive is not to kill the new girl. Emery Maves escapes a death sentence and is forced into the same brutal world, where survival means navigating both the violent Trials and Cameronโs unpredictable nature. As they push each other to their limits, a dangerous and intense bond forms, which could either destroy or save them.
This novel was a mixed read for me. I was really excited for the potential of the plot and setup, but found myself not reaching for the book as much as I expected. Although there were moments that showed promise, other aspects (particularly the romance dynamic and writing style) made it difficult to stay immersed.
I know ARCs arenโt the final version and that the writing may change with further editing, but I still found the style tough to get through at times. Some lines felt too simple, and the way internal thoughts were presented, without italics or other formatting, sometimes made them feel abrupt or inconsistent, which took me out of the story. Also, some ideas and plot points were introduced without much buildup, which made the narrative feel jumbled at times.
The romance between Emery and Cameron moved unrealistically fast and felt rushed. They were already touching each otherโs faces and acting close very early on, even though they barely knew each other. Less than a quarter into the book, the line โYou donโt own her. Sheโs mine, got it?โ especially threw me off, considering they had just met. The explanation came later, but I think it would have had a stronger effect if Cameron showed through more of his actions.I did appreciate the small glimpses of vulnerability, especially when Cameron braided Emeryโs hair for the first time. It felt like the first authentic glimpse into his softer side.
I genuinely enjoyed the action and trial elements of the story - those plot points kept me curious and wanting to know what would happen next. However, it was difficult for me to get past how quickly Cameron and Emeryโs relationship escalated. The intimacy and possessiveness came so early that it felt unearned, and I think a slower burn would have helped me connect with their relationship more deeply. Some plot points, like the advice Bree gives Emery about Cameron around 45% were introduced without much buildup and felt somewhat abrupt.
Overall, while I appreciated the concept and high-stakes action, I struggled with the believability of the romance and certain aspects of the writing style. That said, this story has potential, and readers who enjoy fast-burn high-drama dark romances with a mix of action may connect with the novel more than I did.

If youโve read Leave me Behind, you know all about the dark forces and the evils of Nolan. Jumping into Your Knife, My Heart was liking greeting an old, murderous friend again. But this timeโฆ Bootcamp! The trials were so stressful to read through, and had me biting my nails as I read them.
I was absolutely loving the angst and tension between Cam & Emery. Their spice scenes were off the charts! I loved their banter, and how protective Cam was over Emery โ even if it was begrudgingly.
That cliffhanger was absolutely brutal. It really set up book 2 to be an absolute angsty, action packed murder spree. And idk if Iโm reading too much into it butโฆ iโm sensing a cross over with Bunny & Bones ๐ฉ

Why was I rooting for two characters that need therapy so badlyโฆ.. but damn the way KM Moronova writes her MMC needs to be studied in a lab. I am utterly obsessed with Cam to the depth of my soul. maybe iโm the one that needs therapy.

This Review will be posted closer to the release day:
Did I drop everything I was reading when I got approved for this book? YES.
I read Leave Me Behind back in April, and I absolutely loved it. So when I heard that she had written a duet in the same world, I was really excited. And it was interesting to see more of the what the Dark Force are.
Itโs hard not to compare this to Leave Me Behind, because it is a good point of comparison. I enjoyed Emery and Cameron, to see the push and pull and see them go from โIโm want to kill youโ to โI would kill for youโ. And by moment, it can feel a little slow insight into those two characters, as they are not really the sharing kind that much at first. But I think their dynamic was fun and addicting, and it was one of the main things I enjoyed about this book.
I do have to say that I wasnโt loving the storyline as much as much as I did Leave Me Behind (which I think is because I wish there had been more meat to the trials. The book feels quite short considering there are 3 trials for them to go through. I do have to say that the ending did leave me begging for the next one.
Overall, I think if you loved Leave Me Behind, youโll enjoy this book. If you havenโt read it and enjoy escaping into some fun and dark romance, and you are down for some military settings, it is worth giving a try. Already pre-ordered the sequel, thatโs for sure.

"She is my morphine, and without her, I'm nothing more than an aimless monster."
K.M. Moronova KNOWS how to write a dark military romance with nail biting tension.
I feel like this story is so unique (at least for me) with the introduction of a pill that essentially makes humans invincible and not feel pain. I'm also sick in the head and love deadly trials, so this book and plot was right up my alley... because who doesn't like fighting for their life every 5 seconds?
Watching Cameron trying so hard to fight off the urge to kill Emery was lowkey sweet, applause for the self control king. I also say this in the nicest way possible, K.M. Moronova wtf was that ending? *laughs nervously*
I have a feeling Cameron is about to looooooose his shit more so than he already has in the next book, and hopefully we get a nice revenge arc. I feel like this is the only space I can actively say "yay murder!" without being prosecuted, so yay murder!
And of course, the spice did not disappoint, it never does. I feel like it just gets hotter tbh.
I am literally counting down the seconds to book two.
Thank you so much to K.M. Moronova and Bloom Books for providing me with this ARC :)

That cliffhanger was a knife to my heart. I canโt wait for the next. There is so many dark and twisty things going on. I feel like we only have half the information we need.
Itโs dark forces, forced proximity, drug addiction, and trials among other things. This is prior to Leave Me Behind so I think there is only a couple characters so far that overlap.
I definitely liked this one but it didnโt suck me in as fast and as hard as Leave Me Behind. I canโt wait to read the next one though!

This book was such a great quick read! The ending will leave you shocked and every KM Moronova book I find such a hard time putting down. The dark military romance is something I never thought itโd enjoy so much!!I found the character development to be something I enjoyed following along with! Cameronโs psycho yet lovable energy was exactly what I wanted out of this and we love a strong FMC. Definitely would recommend and canโt wait for the next one!!

I completely devoured this book in the same day. I absolutely loved Leave Me Behind and this one has followed suit. I genuinely think I might favour Cameron more over bones, maybe ๐
The plot had me hooked from the get go. And I really enjoyed most things about this book. The trials were so good! Cameron was really well written and I really enjoyed Emeryโs character also. I did feel more empathy towards Cameron as I find his lore was a lot sadder compared to Emeryโs, but it did not deter me from loving her character any less! Their dynamic was brilliant and the kind of slow burn between them was very satisfying to read, as there was a lot of tension built up which I really enjoyed and of course, the smut ๐
This was a really gripping book and the ending has me GAGGEDD. I cannot wait for the second book to come out Iโm so excited to read it!!!

I am so incredibly grateful I got to read this book as an e-ARC, thanks to Netgalley!
Let me start by saying no one truly understands how excited I was for this title. Leave Me Behind has been my favorite K.M. Moronova book since I read it, and no matter how many books I read after, nothing and no one replaced my love for Bradshaw. He's my #1 book bf.
โฆ Until Cameron Mortem came along. Sorry Bones, but Mori took the crown here.
Cameron, code named Mori, is a Dark Forces soldier who deep down just wants to be loved and feel special. The Dark Forces make good use of that by putting him on experimental medication. The same medication has killed numerous soldiers over time, but not Cameron. And because he is the only one so far who survived being a drugged up lab rat, he takes pride in that fact. But medication comes with side effects, and Cameron has several unpleasant side effects, one of those being not being able to stop himself from killing his squad partners.
Now, often in books characters are portrayed as dangerous, but then once their personalities start to be revealed you find there is not much to worry about and they were just misunderstood from the beginning. But not Cameron. Not Mori. He is unhinged in ways that are heartbreaking and it keeps you on your toes. You will gasp, your jaw will drop, and your eyes will be filled with tears at some of the things he says, does and experiences. Cameron is also sharp, witty, charming and terribly handsome, but he is actually dangerous. I may be deeply, DEEPLY in love with him, but he is truly dangerous and I never trusted him 100% throughout this book. And Emery's reactions to him are so valid, which makes their connection all the more wonderfully daunting.
Emery, code named Maves, is our beautiful pastel pink haired fmc. A trained high-profile murderer, the executioner for her rich family. Being caught due to an unfortunate turn of events, she is quite literally thrown to the wolf that is Cameron. And since Cameron is being punished for killing yet another one of his partners, they are teamed up together to go through the Under Trials of the Dark Forces, both needing to prove themselves. A match made in literal hell.
Emery is strong and smart, I loved her immediately and I love how K.M. doesn't give us weak female characters in her books. They talk back, fight back, and can hold their own. But of course; what is a romance book without an unhinged knight in bloody armor? Emery fights with her own morals throughout this book when it comes to Cameron and the trials, which makes her interesting and someone you easily feel for. You are truly rooting for her to survive. We do get background information about her in this book, but I feel there might or could be more to her we haven't seen yet.
Leave Me Behind showed us a little bit of the Dark Forces world, but Your Knife, My Heart gives way more insight to how and why people are being brought into that world, how the lives as they know it are covered up to the outside world, and how the soldiers are trained and treated. And let me tell you that it ain't pretty. There is a lot left to unpack to the world K.M. has created here, and I can only hope she will expand it as far as she can. Because truly everything seems possible in that grim underworld.
Where Leave Me Behind was a dark book due to the bully romance aspect, I feel this one is way darker due to the treatment Cameron receives. It was harrowing to read how he was picked up by the Dark Forces and how he's just a walking experiment. But don't be fooled though, there is still enough in this book to make you giggle, blush, sigh with heart eyes, and kick your feet while reading!
There are some beautiful dark poetic lines in this book which made me sigh hopelessly. The side characters are interesting and although present, they don't steal the spotlight but are written in a way that makes you want to keep them around for the story.
Nowโฆ the ending. That cliffhanger was devastating. I already had a bad feeling the last few chapters, and I thought I knew what was going to happen but I was actually surprised when it didn't go quite as I had expected. Which I love, because often dark romance books can be predictable. The literal last line of the book broke me, and I cried for five minutes straight while I stared at the wall. I honestly can't wait for the next book. I am dying to read more of Cameron and Emery, they are a deadly team together and we love to see it, but who knows how that will play out in the next book. I'm scared and excited.
Conclusion: 5 freaking stars! No one writes dark military romance like K.M. does, and I truly hope she will continue it forever (selfish, yes, but I'll take what I can get). The details she puts into these books are incredible, from the weapons to the human anatomy. Dark military romance is not for everyone, but I truly can't get enough. I didn't think she was able to top Leave me Behind, but she truly did. You can see the growth with this book when it comes to the dark military style, and I am here for it! I will be reading this book more than once, and more than that even! The bar for My Blade, Your Back, is incredibly high now though. This book was absolutely worth the wait.

โI promise, Emery, when I kill you it will be with my knife to your heart. Youโll see me coming. Youโll know without a doubt that Iโm going to take your life.โ
What the freak?
K.M. Moronova has done it yet again. She introduced me to dark military romance and I still ask myself how and why I survived that long without picking up Leave Me Behind. And this one is not an exception. This was dark, violent and incredibly delicious. But it definitely did break my heart.
She writes the best gut wrenching, unhinged, depraved, addictive and somehow beautiful dark military romance that leaves you yearning for more. Her style of writing draws me in and keeps me hooked.
This was literally phenomenal. I couldn't put it down at all. It kept me on a chokehold from the prologue; where I fell for Cameron until the very end.
Did I devour this twice in less than 24 hours? Damn right I did. Did I reread it because that ending ripped my heart and I didn't see it coming? You bet I did.
MMC with a tortured soul and dark past? Check. And y'all know i'm a complete goner for that. It's like a one way ticket to heaven for me.
My heart broke for him though. I literally cried for him not once, but multiple times. I wanted to give him the biggest hug(might have to die my hair pastel pink so he doesn't end me).
I absolutely adore how he went from not wanting to share his thoughts at all to him opening up to Emery.
The moment his accent was mentioned, i was literally down bad for him. And the nickname, yes please. He is literally competing with Bones; who wholeheartedly owns a part of my soul.
Also, I think I need to be checked into a psych ward. Because from the end of the prologue with Cameron being violent, i had already fallen in love with him. Trust me when I say, I found him hot, and I was astronomically down bad for him.
As for Emery, I don't know how to feel about her yet. As much as my heart breaks for her entirely that she lost her whole life to do what was required for her, it felt like we didn't get as much depth to her as we did with Cam.
But we gotta appreciate how fierce, brave, snarky and violent she was. But under all this, she's really kind and caring. I loved how she prove everyone who underestimated her wrong. She also sees the light in Cameron and is willing to do everything to keep it from dulling. I literally can not wait to see her character continue developing in the next book, which i'm convinced, i need more than oxygen at this point.
And also credits to the cover. It literally draws you in with how stunning it truly is.
The brutal cliffhanger??
How am I supposed to survive till the next one is released. I need to have it in my hands like right now please. It's pure torture having to wait.
And Sourcebooks Bloom Books, I have so much love for you. So grateful to have gotten this one early as it was literally one of my most anticipated read since it was announced. I hope all your pillows are cold on both sides, and fingers crossed, I get book 2 too, and then I can love y'all forever.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for gracing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

All of the stars!
Top Read of 2025! ๐๐ป
Complete emotional destruction!
I donโt know how she does it, but Iโm constantly reminded why KMM is my favorite author. She knows how to write THE MOST broken and tormented MCs and their stories will make your heart and soul ache something fierce. ๐ญ
So if having your heart ripped out and stomped on while crying over fictional characters is your thing, YOU NEED THIS BOOK! It has banter that will make you chuckle, a broody and protective MMC with self-sabotaging tendencies that you want nothing more than to fix, an FMC holding on to the goodness in her heart despite the horrible things she has been forced to do, and a fight against impossible odds. This story will have you GASPING and on the edge of your seat as the ship sails full speed into total destruction. Itโs unh!nged, dark, sexy and so brutally sweet. ๐ซ Thatโll make more sense when you read it.
You will physically FEEL the tension and yearning between Cameron and Emery. I canโt stop thinking about them and that earth-shattering ending! I need the next book DESPERATELY! I also need a hug and probably a little therapy.
Thank you @k.m.moronova @read_bloom @netgalley @sourcebooks for the e-arc that set my soul on f!re. It was the best experience!

Itโs no surprise that I love everything by KM Moronova and Leave Me Behind is one of my all-time favs and I just love the Dark Forces world. Your Knife, My Heart is the first part of Emery and Cameronโs story and itโs set in the same world.
ย
Emery and Cameron are unhinged and unpredictable on their own but together they make the perfect lethal team. Cameron made the Dark Forces his life essence and heโs called Mori for a reason. A lot of people are frightened of him and only see a ruthless killer but there is so much more to him, and I loved how he feels again. I loved seeing more of his personality and I loved how Emery brought out a whole new side in him that seemed long forgotten. I adored the scene when he braided her hair and how he said, โYou are the bearer of my soul.โ Like OMG and I just love Cameron with his pitch-black heart.
ย
Emery is such a badass and she comes from a wealthy family and was forced to do a lot of dirty jobs. A lot of people underestimate her, and I love how she proves them all wrong. I also adore her artsy side and her pink hair. She sees the light in Cameron, and I loved that and canโt wait to see more of it and her code name is so fitting.
ย
Both Emery and Cameron have done unimaginable things and thatโs exactly why theyโre perfect for the Dark Forces. But before that they must survive the Under Trials and theyโre crazy and I was glued to the pages and couldnโt put it down. The plot is just thrilling, and you never know what happens next and in between that Emery and Cameron slowly get closer. And theyโre just perfect together and just what the other needs. I loved their first meeting and how they trained together. And what the hell was the end: I almost had a heart attack, and I canโt wait to see how the story continues.
ย
Your Knife, My Heart is easily a new favorite dark romance, and I already canโt wait to reread before the second one comes out. I loved everything about this book and I canโt wait to see even more of this world. 5+ stars.

ARC review
Wow, thereโs hasnโt been a KM Moronova book that hasnโt absolutely wowed me. This is another 5 star. Her writing and characters are just magnificent, so tortured and so raw. My heart was aching for the main characters by the end of the book. This had me hooked all the way through.
That cliff hanger, ugh torture! I canโt wait for more from Cameron & Emery.
This is a must read if you loved Leave me Behind.

I liked the storyline of this book and especially the MMC, who is a tortured soul with a dark past! I felt so sad about him and his personality that led him to experience these lab experiments ๐
I love how he started to change and feel all the muted emotions inside him from the moment he met and partnered up with Em! They definitely complete each other mentally!

What I didn't like was that I felt that the book was written for "booktok" purposes, especially some spicy scenes that thay may give off the shock factor.

I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to read this as an ARC. Hands down my favorite book from K. M. Moronova, and I am SO excited for the second one. The dark forces books are masterpieces!!
