BOOK REVIEW: “The Blackstone Griddle Camping Cookbook: 100 Easy, Flavorful Recipes to Fuel your Outdoor Adventures” by Cheri Renee
Let me just preface this by saying that I love our Blackstone. I actually bought it as a birthday gift for my husband, but I ended up loving it so much that I use it more than he does! 🤣
So of course I was excited to read a Blackstone cookbook with creative new ideas!
This book is very beginner friendly. Straight off the bat, it starts with the basics of Blackstone care. Seasoning the griddle, washing it, blackening it, etc. Then the author includes the best types of cooking tools you will want.
There are 6 chapters that feature the 100 recipes:
🍔 Camp Cooking with a Blackstone Griddle
🍔 Breakfast
🍔 Snacks and Sides
🍔 Sandwiches and Wraps
🍔 Camp Main Dishes
🍔 Desserts
I had such high hopes for this cookbook but I feel that it fell short. The back cover boasts that the meals are tasty and healthy, but I was a little disappointed in the number of processed foods involved in the recipes. Multiple recipes use frozen waffles as a base, and others include frozen hash browns, tubes of cinnamon rolls, hot dogs, frozen garlic toast, etc.
While many recipes used fresh fruits and vegetables, I would have loved to have seen some fresh ingredients used for those recipes as well instead of frozen processed food. There were some recipes that looked good, but I feel like nothing was really new or too innovative.
For this reason, I rate this book as 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I received this book for free from Netgalley in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.

I was excited to open up this book and the beginning section was well done. The recipes were not my cup of tea in most cases and the text boxes for the ingredients were hard to read on computer in the Net Galley Reader. I felt much of the photography was not eye catching. Overall, this was not a hit for me.
Thank you Net Galley, Cheri Renee and Adams Media for the opportunity to preview this title. The opinions shared are my own.
I did not share my review as I did not want to hurt the release.

I love camping, and even more so, I love new camping recipies. For those of you who threw in the towel to by a griddle OR just want some new ideas, this is a great cookbook for you. I especially cannot wait to try the flattened cinnamon rolls. Camping season is almost here, and I know what I am packing with me.
