I fully admit I have a bit of an addiction to cookbooks and recipe books. I am the target audience. The target audience is me. The cover alone, gorgeous in its simplicity, made me want it instantly. This book is a celebration of the versatility of cookies (though I will forever maintain that gooey, partially baked cookies are the superior cookie).
Inside, you’ll find both tried-and-true favorites and flavor combinations I never would have thought to try. It showcases cookies from cultures around the world, from fortune cookies to linzer cookies, all with beautiful photography for nearly every (though not all) recipe.
I especially loved the playful category names (drop everything, cut it out, have a ball, pressing matters, raise the bar) and the thoughtful, practical organization overall. It’s as much fun to flip through as it is to bake from.
Thank you to NetGalley, Cider Mill Press, and the Coastal Kitchen for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Wow, I really should not be looking at this book when I’m hungry! The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous, and I just want to dive in and eat every single cookie. The kids are always asking to bake cookies, and they are going to be so excited to see this book and pick out some new recipes to try over the weekend.
The instructions are super easy to follow, and most of the recipes use simple staple ingredients you probably already have at home. I also love that there are some gluten-free options, which is perfect for families with dietary needs. Some recipes that immediately caught my eye were the blueberry buttermilk cookies, the dark chocolate and peanut cookies, and the double shot cookies. I can’t wait to try them all!

Cookies: The classics - the coastal kitchen
Okay, I have a seriously sweet tooth so please do not take recipe advice from me. lol😳
This book would go nicely beside my Muffins book. There are so many different types of cookie recipes in this book for all different tastes. I can’t wait to try the ones with pumpkin! I may also try making a couple of the lavender ones. I did try a lavender cake recipe once and I don’t recommend that. lol however, I do recommend this book though. 👍🏻
Make some cookies to sit and scoff while reading, perfect 👌🏻 🍪 📖 ☕️

I love a cookbook and this one was no exception! Some particular highlights worth mentioning:
- There were good shots of most recipes in this book. It’s nice to have a reference of what you're working towards and is visually appealing just to flip through.
- The instructions seem easy to follow. I think this would be approachable for a beginner but also offer something interesting to a more advanced baker.
- There is a nice balance of tried and true favorites (chocolate chip cookies will forever have my heart) and recipes with new ideas (it has never once occurred to me to put quinoa in a cookie)
- Measurement are given in American and metric options
- Numerous gluten free options!
I’m excited to try out some of these recipes and would be thrilled to add a hard copy of this book to my personal collection when it hits shelves.
Thanks to Netgalley for an eARC copy. All opinions are entirely my own.

First, this book is just pretty and is something you want to see on your shelf. Chic yet eye-catching. Open the pages and get inspired with a vast array of cookies with great pictures to get you craving cookies and ready to bake!
There is a great photo to accompany every recipe, allowing you to flip the pages and just look for something that catches your eye. The recipes themselves are easy to follow, approachable with commonly found ingredients. Not just for the holidays, you will find sweet treats to make throughout the year.
Great cookbook!

COOKIES is a thicc cookbook that accomplished many of the things I look for in a cookbook. The instructions are simple and easy to follow, there's a ton of variety, and the most important to me: there are pictures of every recipe. Getting to see what the end product should look like should be a cookbook requirement.
Thanks to Cider Mill Press and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

What a gorgeous cookbook! While it offers great technical and baking insight, I appreciate that it's also a beautiful book, with delicious looking photography to accompany its recipes. I would use this as a coffee table book or put it on display in my kitchen! On the instructional side, I appreciate the introduction including a deep dive of basic baking ingredients and their technical function in these recipes. While the author offers some seasonal treats as well, I appreciated the focus on the tried and true classics. Definitely a book I'll revisit for later baking adventures.

Very nice variety of cookies, I will try . I'm always looking for new cookies and new ideas to make them. I love baking

This is more than a cookbook, this is Cookies 101. The book starts out by giving you a flyover view of the ingredients and mantra of baking and cookies. Then, it gives you simple recipies to try and then continues to get more sophisticated as the book goes on. If you need a show stopper cookie for a party or something yummy for a bake sale, this book will give you the recipe for it.
