I love Greek mythology, so I was definitely intrigued by the blurb for this one. I was immediately drawn into the story, and I was intrigued by Ophira. She is a very strong personality at first. Her assistant Aric was probably my favorite character with his steadfastness and loyalty. Oh, and her snakes; they were just perfect as sidekicks. There were a couple of things that drew me out from the story a little bit. One was the intermittent repeated words/phrases/scenes. It wasn’t bad, but it was enough that I noticed. The second one was the personality change Ophira seemed to go through with the introduction of Marcus. However, that could be something that is explained in a later book. Other than those two things, I really did enjoy this book. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I was excited for the premise of this book as I love some fantasy with mythology mixed in. I was especially happy to learn that it would focus on Medusa as a character. Unfortunately, it was a DNF for me, but for reasons that I don't think would bother most people. One of my personal downfalls is that if I notice certain descriptions or phrasing being frequently used, I get focused on it and have a hard time looking past. This book did that for me with the multiple references to a chill or shiver down the MC's spine within the first few chapters. On the positive side, I think the world building and the cybersecurity setting is very interesting and I really loved the MC's "bang snakes" and think they would be such fun characters.

This was a strong start to the Stone and Shadow Chronicles series, it had that element that I was wanting from the description. A H Jordane does a fantastic job in writing fantasy book and this was no exception, I really enjoyed the way the characters and world were presented and developed. It had that mythology element that I was hoping for and enjoyed how the slow-burn romance worked well in this universe. I'm glad I got to read this and am excited for more from A H Jordane.
