This was a new to me author and i really enjoyed her writing style. This was the type of romance book I'm always on the hunt for. it's easy to read, effortlessly funny, and has a great cast of characters.
I was drawn into the story immediately, which is always a good thing. I think Margot is a great FMC and I absolutely loved her. It actually took me finishing the book and sitting down to write this review to realize this book was only one POV, which I think speaks to the strength of Margot as a character. I didn't miss not having our MMC's POV at all.
I think this story was perfectly paced. The plot just moved along so well, and I didn't feel any lulls in the story. The third act conflict did make me mad (sister conflicts always hit close to home!) but I did end up happy enough with the resolution between our FMC and her sister (and with the MMC) and overall this was just such a nice read. I was originally drawn in by the cover of this one, but the story is what kept me.
Narration: the narration on this was perfect. I have not listened to Katie Bloomwood prior to this book, but she nailed it. She has a wonderful narrating style and injected so much life into her performance, without being over the top. She has a very smooth voice that is really just so pleasant to listen to. She actually reminded me of Karissa Vacker/Vanessa Edwin - so any fans of her narration would absolutely love this performance!
I will definitely be checking out more work from this author.
This book is perfect for anyone looking for a romance book that has good humor and low angst, who wants to just sit and binge a book that will make you kick your feet.

✨ ALC Review: We Met Like This by Kasie West ✨
🎧 Audiobook provided by NetGalley | Releases September 16, 2025
Rating: 3.5/5
Narrated by Katie Bloomwood — her voice is so easy to listen to, even at a faster speed. She brought Margot’s story to life in such a charming way!
From the very first page, this book surprised me spicy prologue? Yes please! 🔥 Not overly spicy, but definitely unexpected for a Kasie West novel, and I was hooked.
Margot Hart is a hopeless romantic who dreams of meet-cutes and literary love stories not dating apps. But fate keeps throwing Oliver, her app match turned steamy first date, back into her life. When she loses her job and decides to start her own agency, Oliver shows up with golden retriever energy and unexpected support. Their banter, chemistry, and emotional growth made this story so adorable, funny, and relatable.
I really enjoyed this one — it’s lighthearted with just enough depth to tug at your heart. And that twist?! I saw it coming but was still hoping I was wrong. 😅
Kasie West’s adult debut is full of witty banter, meet-cutes gone awry, and the kind of romance that makes you believe in love again. 💖

I absolutely adored this sweet rom com between Margo, a hopeless romantic, and Oliver, a businessman and all around nice guy. Their love story will make readers swoon. We will be getting both the audio and physical copy of this book!

Kasie West really did the damn thing with her adult romance debut. West is one of my favorite YA authors, so when I heard she was dipping her toe into adult romance I was beyond excited and this exceeded every single one of my expectations.
Our story follows hopeless romantic, literary agent, Margot, who is forever chasing her meet-cute and Oliver, the man who couldn't be more different than her but with who she can't stop matching with on dating apps.
Their banter, the chemistry, the slow burn. It was all done to absolute perfection. These two had me smiling and kicking my feet throughout this entire book. And the way that Oliver is so supportive of Margot through every single page; he's the biggest supporter of her dreams... and the fact that her following those dreams created more opportunities for them to see each other was just an added bonus.
And Margot is so patient with Oliver. Once she gets over the fact that their meeting wasn't all that cute, she admits to herself that she's falling pretty fast and hard but she gives Oliver time to catch up and along the way, they're able to establish such a strong friendship that their evolution into a real relationship was seamless.
Aside from the third act. Very dramatic and honestly, I don't know if I'd have been so quick to make up with my sister had I been in this situation but I digress. Oliver on the other hand can do no wrong in my eyes and considering how far into the past everything happened, it really felt like such a non-issue so I was really glad that Margot was able to get over it quickly.
I really loved this and the audio narration was fantastic. I'll definitely be buying this one once it releases.

I absolutely loved How We Met. I was hooked from start to finish. I thought the narrator’s did a great job. In addition, I loved the beautiful cover!

I’ve read some of Kacie’s YA books before and really enjoyed them, so I was excited to check out her debut adult rom-com. Thanks to NetGalley for the ALC!
I loved how the story started and ended, though the middle felt a bit uneven in places. The main conflict didn’t totally work for me, and I think it could have gone in a different direction, but overall this was a fun, light read. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what she writes next in the adult space!

This story was such a cute and heartfelt story. Margot is a literary assistant that is always reading about these amazing meet cutes and eagerly awaiting to be swept away with her own meet cute story. Margot and Oliver have a disastrous first date that leads her to constantly delete and redownload dating apps only to be constantly rematching with Oliver. After three years they meet again after being penpals online. He ends up being there for one of the worst days ot her life. Their friendship grows and love seeing the evolution of their friendship to more.
Such a cute rom-com. The audiobook is narrated by Katie Bloomwood. She had the best voice to narrate this story and was such a delight to listen to. If you love California setting and literary world this is a perfect read.

We Met Like This is a second chance romance featuring a woman who has always let others dictate her life finally make moves for herself. Do I always like the FMC’s choices or actions? Hell no, but it made her more human. I enjoyed her a lot more as her spine came in: Some of the twists were a bit predictable, but not in a way that took away from the overall enjoyment of the novel.
The romance and banter were top tier. I absolutely believe these two are perfect for each other.
Katie Bloomwood was a fantastic narrator, bringing charm and warmth to the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!

This is the kind of book you have to pause the audio when you have literally anything that takes brain power, because you don't want to miss a second. Something about this book has you constantly turning pages. The chemistry, the tension, the absolute mess of the FMCs life. So delicious.
Margot and Oliver meet on a dating app. Their first date is a disaster. But then they keep matching...and matching. Eventually three years pass and Margot is still looking for Mr. Right, while making some bad Mr. Right Now choices. Oliver is in the same way, and through the dating app messaging system, they become sort of friends.
Their connection is so sparkly. I mean--sparks everywhere. It's probably a hazard. But their first date was so bad, it holds them back from pursing more in the present.
Until. They. Do.
This book had me screaming, crying, kicking my feet. Margot made me slightly crazy with some of her over-the-top and highly selective decisions through the middle of the book, and some of the middle was a little but they don't feel the same way kind of angst which dragged the tiniest bit, but overall, absolute banger of a romance novel.
9/10, Recommend.
Note:: I received an early copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Margo and Oliver had the worst first date ever. Physically, the chemistry was there, but that was it. Over the next few years, they occasionally swipe right on each other as they pop up on dating apps. They chat, but never meet. Present day, they start really talking. Margo realizes he is different than the man she went on a date with and decides to give him a second chance. The day of their second meeting, Margo has the worst day ever. Oliver is there for her. As time progresses, they are both hot and cold- and never at the same time. Can they get on the same page?
I liked both Margo and Oliver. Their story was funny and relatable. The story is told through Margo's POV, so it did feel like Oliver was less developed. There is a lot you never know about Oliver.
Margo's sister is awful.
Audiobook is narrated by Katie Bloomwood

Absolutely loved this! Kasie West delivers another charming, heartfelt romance. The narrator brought the story to life, and I did not see that third act twist coming—but it didn’t drag things out. Sweet, emotional, and totally trophy shelf–worthy.

We Met Like This by Kasie West is the first book I’ve read by this author. From other reviewers, I’ve gathered that she’s well known for writing “clean” YA novels—but this one is different. This is an adult romance, and yes, it does include open-door scenes.
I’ll admit, I’m frustrated by the number of readers rating this book poorly solely because of those scenes. Whatever your preference, this novel is clearly marketed for adults. If spice isn’t your thing, that’s fine—but it’s unfair to judge the entire book harshly for it. Skip the scenes or skip the book, but don’t dismiss what is otherwise a fantastic story.
The characters are deeply developed and unforgettable. Oliver is MMC perfection—cautious, careful, and shaped by the insecurities of past relationships, but yearning for something stable and real. Margot, on the other hand, is messy, spontaneous, and unapologetically herself. Together, they’re magnetic, and their story kept me hooked from start to finish.
I loved the original plot so much that I also listened to the audiobook, narrated by Katie Bloomwood, who did a phenomenal job bringing Margot and Oliver to life. I often revisit stories I love in audio form to catch details I may have missed, and this narration was absolutely worth it.
I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy layered characters, heartfelt romance, and a story that lingers with you long after. I can’t wait to read more from Kasie West.
Thank you to Kasie West, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the advance audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was a different premise that I haven’t read, and kept me entertained. I loved the banter and push and pull between the two main characters. The twist in the end was a little awkward and wasn’t completely unexpected. I am glad it was resolved quickly.
Thank you NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook. It did not have any influence on my review.

This read was a little spicier than I like to read.
I found the characters one dimensional and a bit shallow, but I do always enjoy a second chance romance.
The audio book was well done and entertaining, but still not my favorite.
3 stars. Thank you netgalley for the arc!

Thank you so much for the alc! I loved this narrator and I think she narrated Margot and this story really well! I loved this book and I loved that Kasie West went into adult romance! I wasn’t expected the prologue to start us off so spicy and it really worked for me!

WE MET LIKE THIS is the author's adult romance debut, and it kind of shows. If you took out the couple of sex scenes that we get here, you could 100% convince me that this was just another contemporary YA romance. The characters were a little flat and everything came together in a way that felt just fine, but nothing to write home about.

*Thanks to NetGalley and MacMillan audio for early copy for review*
I'm so happy I got this early. Kasie West is such a nostalgic author for me. I have read so many of their releases and I'm so glad they finally wrote an adult title.
I loved the banter our two characters had. Margot was a great and chaotic character. Her continuous search for a meet cute moment and getting duds in guys was charming to watch. It was also nice seeing someone having luck on the apps after giving someone they met a second chance. When I read romance I throw out some bit of believability for the sake of fantasy. For that Margot's success in her career was not that believable, but it was enjoyable.
Margot had great chemistry with Oliver and he became someone that would protect her. He was also hilarious when drunk.
I have the audio review copy and enjoyed how the narrator brought Margot to life. I would highly recommend this listen to romance lovers.

If a romance doesn’t have good banter then I don’t want it.
This is my first Kasie West book and what a fun time I had. Margot and Oliver had such good chemistry that it was hard not to root for them. And as someone who met their husband on one of these cursed dating apps, I love to see the representation. Just because the meet cute happened over the phone doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Their conversation through the dating apps were some of my favorites. Talking about the cringy things other people say while giving dating advice to each other while also mercilessly flirting? Ate it up.
However… idk what this dating your siblings ex trend is but it’s not my favorite. I get we needed drama for the third act break up but personally it wasn’t my favorite part.
The audiobook was excellent. It was well produced and Katie Bloomwood has a stellar voice.
Thank you NetGalley for the audio ARC and Saturday Books for the physical ARC.

3.5 rounded up
This was a cute debut about a young woman working hard to make it as a literary agent in the publishing world while also navigating the complicated world of online dating. The story starts off with a hook-up then fast forwards three years where she keeps in contact with that guy and maintains a texting relationship. For me, this was a light-hearted, low-angst romance that is sure to appeal to Emily Henry fans but it lacked the emotional depth I typically crave from a five star read. It was great on audio narrated by Katie Bloomwood (a new to me, debut narrator). Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!

This was cute! Well-structured with steady pacing from start to finish. The banter between the main characters was great, and the spice was good without being cringy. Loved Margot’s best friend, Sloane. The ending was a little predictable, but honestly? I didn’t mind one bit because I still loved the story. Fans of Emily Henry should check out Kasie West asap.
