Personally bounced off this one, but professionally recommend for collections where contemporary romance is popular.

I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on this book! We Met Like This is the perfect romcom with immense character development and growth. You can really see the characters grow in real time while reading this story of love, friendship, and believing in your dreams.
Some spice, but nothing too heavy-though it is open door.
I look forward to future stories from this author and can’t wait to tell all of my friends all about it!

The narraton was amazing, second only to the beautifully written book itself. This was a perfectly imperfect love story and Margot was so real and relatable that this felt like a true story. I need me an Oliver is all I'm gonna say!!! 10/10 no notes

This was so disappointing. I have loved Kasie West’s YA books and I was excited that she was writing an adult novel. I assumed that there would be some adult content but I didn’t expect it to be this heavy. There are multiple scenes and really, the physical connection is what drove this plot in a way. I expected those moments to be more emotionally driven and they weren’t. The underlying plot was interesting but the rest just ruined it for me. I think for me, I will stick to her YA books.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the gifted audiobook. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
Content Notes: Multiple open scenes, some strong language

3.5/4⭐️ this was such a fun romance that had a lot of depth as well! The first few chapters were really reminding me of a specific How I Met Your Mother episode so that was a win for me!! I really enjoyed both of the main characters and their banter. I also loooove when the main character works in publishing and I felt like the plot of her job flowed well. Overall, a great easy read!

🎧 Book Review 🎧 Kasie West is here with a friendly, comedic, addictive, and all-around amazing reminder that nobody has their life together and that is okay. Margot Hart has big dreams for her life as a literary agent for romance authors but she’s stuck in her job. Still single, her love life is a dead end with the dating apps and she keeps matching with Oliver, a failed date from three years ago. Margot constantly compares herself to her older sister whose life is picture perfect to her huge following on instagram and their family; and perhaps that’s the driving force of her quarter-life crisis. In the quest for her own meet cute, perhaps Margot missed the opportunity for a real life romance with Oliver and the universe is actually providing her a second chance at her own love story. We Met Like This is an absolute binge-worthy read, effortlessly and beautifully brought to life by Katie Bloomwood in audiobook format!

I really enjoyed this one. I haven't read anything by this author before but I was sucked in from the beginning. While the introduction starts off hot a steamy (which i know isn't for everyone) I'd say it does to keep balance with plot, character growth, and steaminess. I loved seeing Margot grow as a character from being a push over to standing up for herself. I loved the interaction with Oliver also. I wish there were more funny or cuties moments and that would have brought it to a five stars for me.

This was a quick and enjoyable listen! I appreciated how realistic the main characters' first date felt, it was refreshingly awkward and honest, not an instant love connection, which made their relationship feel more authentic. The ending wrapped things up nicely, and overall, it’s a great pick for romance fans looking for a fun, light audiobook to listen to while working.

This was a fast and fun listen. I liked how realistic the main characters first date was and appreciated the way they were not immediately smitten with each other. I enjoyed the ending as well and felt this was a good audiobook if you like romances !

I was absolutely SWOONING throughou this whole book! It's mature and tender and heartfelt, I loved the main character and following her growth.

Expect 👉🏼 Continual Matching, Friends to Lovers, We’ve Been Hurt Before, Opposites Attract
Poor, sweet Oliver. The man can kiss—even if he and Margot have nothing else in common, the physical chemistry is there. After matching for years, they strike up a friendship that quickly moves past platonic.
Margot took me a hot minute to warm up to. She was maybe making some less than stellar decisions at the beginning of the book, but she came around eventually and I ended up loving her and Oliver together.
I really really loved Oliver. Computer Nerds aren’t always my go-to… but Oliver had me swooning.
The audio was wonderfully performed and I flew through this book.
Thank you Macmillan Audio for the gifted alc

received the arc but i read along with the audiobook and it had me giggling and blushing from the first chapter. not only was kasie’s adult debut stinking cute, the narrator truly encapsulated the character + vibe of the story and i sat and read/listened to this in two sittings. would highly recommend listening if you wanna pick this one up!

We Met Like This , was utter perfection! I spend through this and loved every second of it.
The characters were so relatable, even the side ones.
The “meet cute” was amazing. The spice was top tier!!! And the PLOT TWIST, sis THE PLOT TWIST!!
This is a must read for anyone that loves
-friends to lovers
-romcom meet cutes
-actual substance with your romance
-golden retriever mmcs
We met like this NEEDS to be on your tbr!
The narration in this was perfect! Kept me intrigued the entire time!

This was super cute!
Margo & Oliver have fantastic banter. I loved their conversations, some of it had me cackling.
This is a slowwwww burn, but the payout was so worth it in the end. I didn’t love the third act breakup, but I enjoyed the way the relationship progressed between Margo & Oliver.
Overall, this is a light and fun romance!

Definitely not Kasie West’s usual writing..
Immediately upon hitting play I am hit with a very spicy, very explicit prologue. I wasn’t expecting it so I was a little startled. I thought the premise was interesting, two strangers who keep getting matched on various online dating apps. Oliver is a cinnamon roll of an MMC and hands down the star of the show. For Margot being the main character and the POV she was pretty underwhelming. Nothing about her character really stood out and she felt one dimensional. She also felt immature despite this being an adult romance. I agree with another arc reader who explained it best by saying the writing and characters still felt very YA. We aren’t getting adult writing with this book, only adult explicit language and descriptive open door sex scenes.. Another complaint I had with this book was I found myself losing interest throughout the middle. There wasn’t really anything in the story piquing my interest enough to keep me turning the pages other than the moment where Oliver tries to tell Margot who his ex is.
One thing I did really enjoy and I believe will be a strength in West’s future adult novels is that it turns out, girl can write some steamy sex scenes. 🔥 I think it is because she has spent her career writing YA and having to lean on angst and yearning that, that has become a strong point in her writing. It has carried into her adult writing which I am all for because in recent years angst and yearning is something that has become missing. Only to be replaced with generic, explicit sex scenes because lazy authors think this will make their book an instant buy. I think if West just adds more conflict with higher stakes to her future adult novels then this with her ability to write swoony, angsty spice will make her an instant buy adult author. I wasn’t lying when I said Oliver was the star of the show. There were so many moments I would find myself swooning at his interaction with Margo. Even in the spice scenes, his character was so multidimensional and makes the reader really connect with his character.
I loved the audio production, I thought that the narrator did a great job and her voice was a perfect fit for Margot. My only complaint was that if you are going to make the claim that Oliver has a voice for sexy romance novels then you should have made this a duet narration because absolutely NOTHING about the female narrator’s “male” voice said “sexy male romance reader”. I’m not going to lie, that actually really annoyed me for the duration of the audio book. 😏

Big thanks to NetGalley for the ARC audiobook. The narration was okay but this book just didn’t hook me. I did finish it but it was very slow and in my opinion Margot was pretty whined a lot. I liked the concept of meeting again years later from a dating app but matching over and over was over the top.

Oh, I loved this book! Having read so many romances, I felt like the premise seemed kind of simple at first, but the execution was excellent and I wasn't ready for it to end. Margot and Oliver were likable, and the peek into the world of publishing added a lot to the story. (The story within the story was fun, too!) The third act conflict was a little contrived, but I enjoyed this love story so much that I got over it quickly. Looking forward to more by Kasie West in this genre.
The narration by Katie Bloomwood was also quite good, and I'd gladly listen to more by this narrator.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review!

This story was perfect! I loved the literary agent trying to find love and get her life together! The chemistry was so fun! Oliver was a great male character

In We Met Like This, Margot Hart is a classic hopeless romantic who dreams of a storybook meet‑cute. Instead, she scrolls—and silently judges—dating apps, convinced love should feel like her favorite novels. But when she rematches with Oliver—whose one disastrous date still haunts her—and then gets unceremoniously fired the same day she meets him again, her life hilariously unravels.
Suddenly, her career dreams are in chaos and Oliver, with his “golden retriever energy” and persistent charm, might just be the unexpected storyline she never saw coming. Despite their mismatched habits—he’s the organized, early‑riser nonfiction type; she’s the chaotic, romance‑loving dreamer—the chemistry and banter spark off the page.
Yet when Margot learns there’s more to Oliver’s reticence than meets the eye, she’s forced to ask herself: is she ready to swipe beyond her romantic expectations?
Whether you’re well-versed in the ups and downs of dating app culture or simply here for a contemporary rom-com with heart—and a few mildly spicy surprises—We Met Like This is worth the read.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC!

I went into this book never having read Kasie West before, so I had no expectations or comparisons. From chapter one, there was a spark of spice and I was immediately hooked.
Margot Hart is searching for her perfect meet cute, not another string of awkward dating app disasters or a messy fling with her boss. Just as she quits her job to finally pursue her dream of becoming a literary agent, Oliver reappears, the guy she once matched with years ago. Their chemistry is undeniable this time, but Oliver is hiding a secret that could unravel the love story Margot has been waiting for.
I thoroughly enjoyed this rom-com. Margot was relatable and real, though I found myself wishing she would stand up for herself more often. The way some of the secondary characters treated her was frustrating, and her sister had me shaking my head. On the other hand, Oliver’s golden retriever energy made me smile and I loved the way their opposite personalities kept pulling them back together. Even though I have been out of the dating world for a long time, the modern dating struggles in this book felt spot on.
I devoured the audiobook in 24 hours. The narrator brought the story to life and captured the emotions of each character beautifully. This was a charming, heartfelt story that I am so excited for readers to pick up when it releases on September 16, 2026.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC. All opinions are my ow
