I'm not sure what the message of this book is. I was expecting more about his friendship with the girl at the end. Nice and unique pictures though.

It’s hard to make friends when you’re invisible! A story about friendship and being seen. Accompanied by beautiful illustrations this story is great for littles who feel as though maybe they don’t fit in, and maybe they aren’t always heard.

An utterly charming book about finding connections, and working to build them even when it feels hard. It teaches younger readers about being true to the feelings inside oneself, even if those around you may not validate them. Beautifully illustrated and very touching.

Thank you so much to Broadleaf Books/ Beaming Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Gilbert believes there’s a ghost at 632, but no one else believes him at all. He leaves gifts and drawings hoping the ghost will be his friend, but no reply comes and no one believes him.

So precious, Gilbert believed in all his heart that a ghost lived in that house and was so determined to find out for sure. I loved how persistent he was, but also how giving and kind he was, providing so many nice gifts to a ghost that may or may not even be real. I also liked he met a mysterious friend eventually, which was so nice he needed a friend.

It was sad that he was all on his own, even with his family he was practically invisible which was really sad. I felt awful for the poor boy having a family that didn’t believe in him and what he was seeing and feeling.

This is a great little story with really nice full page illustrations. Though it’s about a ghost it’s not really creepy or scary, but a little suspenseful. I think it’s a wonderful book to read with your young ones and can be read around the spooky season or anytime you want.

Oh, this is a heartwarming book! I thought I knew what direction this story was going, but was pleasantly surprised by the end! While I do love a good friendly-ghost-in-a-haunted-house children's book, this was an adorable take on that. Well done! Thank you, NetGalley!

Gilbert is convinced there is a ghost living at 632 Savannah Street, and he wants to befriend them. The only problem is, none of his family think the ghost is real. But Gilbert knows what it is like to feel invisible, and is determined to make a friend of the ghost.

This was very cute! A perfect fall read for kids. A sweet book about feeling invisible, and the work that goes into making new friends. Will be buying for my nephew for sure.
It felt a little light on the content, but then again I am not the target audience... but the illustrations were beautiful and the message lovely.

Thank you NetGalley and Broadleaf Books for the e-arc!

Such a beautiful story! Gilbert understands how it feels to not be seen. He shows up everyday to make his new friend feel seen. A beautiful turn I wasn’t expecting. I really enjoyed this story. I believe this story could give children the confidence to start conversations & make new friends.

Thank you NetGalley & Heather Pierce for the opportunity to read this story.

What a cutie little book this was!

The acceptance came in, and my daughter insisted we read it immediately. She loves all things spooky. I appreciated that this book gave the spooky vibe that my daughter loves without being a dedicated Halloween read.

The illustrations in this book are so adorable. They are soft and represent diverse populations without being overtly about diversity. I also liked the muted colours and the pages with only imagery, no words.

I liked that the character was super shy and had trouble making friends. I felt connected to the character and my heart stung for him every time his brother, sister and mum tried to discount the way he was trying to make a friend.

I definitely teared up at the end when Gilbert realized that his new buddy was a person living in the home he thought was filled with ghosts. So adorable.

Overall this is a super cute book to add to your child's or classroom's collection. It gives the spooky vibes for kids who are into that, like my daughter, without leaning into full on costume-haunted-trick or treat mode.

Gilbert and the Ghost is such a heartwarming and sweet book! I know how it feels to be invisible and I would’ve loved to have read this book as a child. I will definitely be reading this book to my own children and I am sure they will feel seen through the little boy in the book! Also kudos to the artist for the beautifully drawn pictures.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my arc!

This was fabulous! Gilbert is convinced a ghost lives at 632 Savannah St. When his friends and family don't believe him, he determines to befriend the ghost.

While not exactly spooky, Gilbert and the Ghost was a heart-warming story of friendship and belief in the unseen. A "ghost" story for the introverts!

This is a must-buy for any elementary school library and would be great to read in conjunction with The Invisible Boy by Patrice Barton

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!
