Ava Reid keeps shocking me with their beautiful mind and words. Innamorata was wonderfully-written as always and incredibly intriguing. Looking forward to reading the next one!

The first two pages and I'm in love. That's the kind of book it is: something you remember loving and enjoying, even when you can't quite identify why, and then when you are immersed in it again, it all becomes crystal clear.Reading the last pages gave me the immense pleasure of shivers and goosebumps. This is a truly special book and I hope the majority of people read it.

The House of Teeth invites you to s world where the dead and the living walk the same plane. Ava Reid writes a unique fantasy narrative that does depend on world building to create a universe with her characters. This is a weaving of decorative diction, flashy dialogue, and a high society of necromancers. The concentration was on the dialogue and interactions between characters and their environment instead of how the protagonist views the world. What does that look like in fantasy? Well, this is worth the read to find out.

This was a highly anticipated fantasy read for me and it did not disappoint. The narrative is a slow burn that really takes the time to develop the relationship between the characters. The persistent concept as death as the beginning in the narrative to life is what kept me craving more. What does it mean to die but still continue to live? This is a question I found myself asking as I was reading the narrative. The breadth of the existential conversations in this narrative was a great exploration for this intrigued by the macabre. Normally I have a difficult time with slow burns, but I did not want to place this book down.

There are a few spicy scenes throughout the book that stood out to me. Mainly because the flowery language did not fit with the context and that is what brings this to a four for me. The forbidden romance aspect in this world makes sense but some of it could have been written with more purpose. I wanted it to be more organic and less teen approved tv show cringe. Overall, I love a book where the two realms of the living and the dead converge. Thank you Netgalley and Del Ray for this digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

I am so insanely confused. I have never not liked an Ava Reid book so this is so upsetting but like wtf. The first half of the book really had me, the plot was promising and gothic and the characters were interesting, but then it just completely lost the plot? Like what happened to Agnes mission, did she just forget about it? And the time skip was so random. Anyway I was fine with all of that, thinking it was all going to make sense near the end but somehow it got worse. I can’t believe I read that ending scene without puking, WHY DID YOU WRITE THAT?. Anyway I read the last word and sighed, idk what the next book is going to entail. I’m so upset right now, I have no idea what to rate this. I love you Ava I promise.

Thank you for the arc NetGalley!

Innamorata is a gorgeously grim gothic fantasy that pulses with necromancy, vengeance, and forbidden love. Ava Reid conjures a haunting world where silence speaks volumes and every page drips with lyrical dread and aching desire. With its eerie atmosphere and unforgettable heroines, this tale lingers like a curse long after the final chapter.
