The message in this children’s book is great. It’s all about what you do with what you’ve been given. There are plenty of illustrations along the way. I was given a complementary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.

One little tiny thing can go a long way. In Kara A. Mullane’s book, “The Kindness Seed”, that’s what Anna finds when she wants to help her town rejuvenate itself. She just has a handful of coins because her family didn’t want to participate. She finds that she can’t afford a tree with her coins, but she can afford some acorns that she can plant. So she buys the acorns and plants them!

This book is so special because it can help young children understand that even they can do a little something that might have a big long-lasting effect. “The Kindness Seed” plants the idea that anyone can make a difference. I really enjoyed the illustrations of Rhiannon Thomas. Especially the ones of an oak tree’s life cycle with a corresponding timeline. This book is perfect for children 4 years and up; even adults will enjoy it.

I wish to thank BooksGoSocial for the complimentary eARC of this book and for selecting me to review it on NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Great idea for a classroom project. The children could brainstorm how they could help others. They could also use this book during April's Earth Day and plant trees. Lovely idea for a book. The illustrations were colorful, just not my cup of tea.

This book is a sweet story of a girl Anna and the town she lives in, Upton. It touches on important lessons for children such as the importance of community and helping others with what you have, whether you have a lot, or a little. What feels like a small act can make a positive change for others. The colours used were bright yet felt muted due to the watercolour illustrations, which was lovely.

In a world where so many people seem caught up in themselves, The Kindness Seed was a breath of fresh air. This story gently reminds us (and teaches kids) that kindness, generosity, and community matter.

I loved how it showed the value of giving over getting, and how even the smallest acts of kindness can grow into something much bigger. The message was powerful, yet simple enough for kids to understand!

The illustrations were bright and beautiful, adding extra warmth to the story. It’s a perfect read for sparking conversations about empathy, sharing, and caring for others. A meaningful book for families, classrooms, and anyone who wants to plant a little more kindness in the world. 💖

Follow little Anna and the people she meets on her journey to make an impact. Quite suitable for children 4years and older. My daughter liked it as a bedtime story, although the beginning did not quite fit the ending, but nevertheless fun and easy read with a nice takeaway message for kids.

What a lovely and positive story to share!
The Kindness Seed by Kara A. Mullane, illustrated by Rhiannon Thomas is such a pretty book. Great story and beautifully illustrated.
Fun and quick read for children 3 to7 years old. The story is about a little girl in a devastated town who discovers the power f kindness and generosity. It doesn’t take much to change a whole town…. Maybe just an acorn!

In prose and colorful illustrations, the story is told of a town in trouble and a man with a solution that involved giving, sharing, and rewarding. One small girl shows how well it can work. Invaluable!
The illustrations by Rhiannon Thomas are complex, imaginative, and FUN in brilliant colors.
Well suited for reading alone or WITH someone of any age, including ESL, and great for gifting to EVERYone, but especially to a school, waiting room, or your local public library!

This book was very sweet and lovely! I do kind of wish Anna’s parents had been shown to have learned their lesson and repented somehow. Still cute, and the pictures were gorgeous as well!

I read this to my four year old, who I am working very hard to teach to be kind and help others in need. Even though he is just a little guy, he can still have a big heart and big love. When I was reading this to him, he said that he would have taken the acorns and done the same thing. I told him that we need to always be kind to each other, and that we will be full in our hearts. The illustrations were beautiful in the book, and it was just the right length to keep my little one's attention.
