After reading Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, this feels like coming home. Rebecca’s writing style is the perfect amount of lyrical. There’s so many great quotes and such a great story. I’m chomping at the bit for the full release. Thank you for the sneak peek!

Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the sneak peek into this book!

I found the overall premise of this book to be so intriguing. However, this sneak peek progressed really slowly. While I'm definitely intrigued, there just isn't quite enough happening to fully hold my interest. Matilda and Vincent both seem pretty likeable, but I'm not feeling a real romantic relationship between them. The prose is absolutely stunning and the narrator's voice fits it perfectly.

Like many, I loved Divine Rivals so much but this just wasn't it.... Rebecca writes in a very lyrical and potetic way so I will say this was beautiful writing. But if you didn't tell me, I would have never known this was supposed to be tied to the same world. If you're a big greek mythology, I could see this being your thing. But Diving Rivals had such an epic and deep love story so this was a big let down. I think if this wasn't marketed as a romance it would pick up the right audience. I do like Matilda and Vincent, they're very likeable characters the story is just very boring (to me). And my god is it long.....

I’ve never jumped on an ARC so fast! I adored the audiobook for Divine Rivals so I knew I’d enjoy this one, and I was not disappointed. Hannah van der Westhuysen and George Weightman do a phenomenal job voicing Matilda and Vincent. I wish I had access to the full audiobook to finish my read! Thank you to Macmillan Audio for access to this audiobook sneak peek!

Thank you Netgalley for this sneak peak ALC!! As always Ross delivers a beautiful novel! The writing is perfection! In Wild Reverence is a standalone novel that takes place in the same world as “Divine Rivals”. It takes you to the worlds of the gods/goddess that rule over that world. This is exactly what I wanted more of from “Divine Rivals”. I loved hearing of all the different powers, the allies, the enemies, and the lore that comes with them all!! This follows Matilda who is a herald for the gods. She is seemed weaker for her lack of power, but she has the power to transport words, which might be the greatest power of all!! The dual narration was fantastic and really brought you into the story! This was just a sneak peak, so I am immediately going to by the whole book so I can see how it ends!!!

I listened to this sneak peak in one sitting, and I’m as obsessed as I expected to be. I’ve loved Rebecca Ross’ writing since the first few pages of Divine Rivals, and getting to return to this world fills my heart. I’m loving getting to learn more about the world of the gods, which I have been curious about for a long time. Ross has created such a vivid world full of depth, and I’m fascinated getting to learn more about it. I’m curious to see if later chapters have more of Vincent’s POVs, since there seemed to be so few in these first chapters. I’m very curious to see how their paths connect as the story progresses, and learn even more about how the pantheon of this world works and interacts with the human world. Thank you so much for the opportunity to listen to a part of it. The narrator for Matilda did a fantastic job with individual voices for characters, and made listening so easy and fun. I hope to look into more of her work in the future. I don’t have as much to say about Other narrators since there wasn’t as much time spent with them in this sample. I can’t wait to keep going with this story.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rebecca Ross, and Macmillan Audio for this sneak peek eALC! I absolutely loved the two other books set in this world before, and I am so excited to have read the first 18 chapters! It is a lot of lead up and exposition, but bear with it because it is worth it! I am so curious as to how Vincent and Matilda will meet in the mortal realm and how it will affect them both, considering how their lives were up to the point where the last chapter ends. The narrators are wonderful, emitting strong emotion and mystery as I listened along with this story. I just got the full audio book so that I will finish this full review on more platforms very soon!

Before there was Iris and Roman, there was Matilda and Vincent. The story starts at the beginning before Matilda is born. Her father is a Skyward (who shall not be named and is unaware of her birth) whereas her mother is an Underling that came together in the mortal realm. Their union created Matilda who is a Herald aka Messenger of the Gods. Her gift allows her to move between all the realms. Matilda finds herself in Vincent's dreams and she accidentally meets him in the mortal realm while he's awake. We get to see the inside world of the Gods and all the politics that goes with it. Between killing another God to steal their magic to trading valuables that can kill a God in the black market.

I was able to listen to this gem of an audiobook but unfortunately it was only a preview. What I can say is the first 4.5 hours is fantastic and I will need the rest immediately. Rebecca is a master at writing a captivating story that keeps you wanting more. The dual audio was nice since you get both lead characters' perspectives.

From the very first chapter, Wild Reverence completely transported me into a lush, magical world where gods walk among mortals, power is perilous, and love might just be the most radical force of all. Rebecca Ross weaves a rich mythology filled with divine politics, secret magic, and a romance that unfolds with equal parts tension and tenderness.
Matilda is such a compelling protagonist—young, divine, but quietly powerful in ways that set her apart from the violent, glory-hungry gods around her. Her role as a messenger makes her an observer of the realms, but she’s hiding more than anyone realizes. Watching her navigate the brutal under realm and wrestle with what it means to be vulnerable gave me all the emotional stakes I look for in a fantasy heroine.
Then there’s Vincent—the mortal boy turned river lord—who once begged a dream-goddess for help and now wants nothing to do with her. Their reunion is nothing short of electric. Their connection, born from dreams and riddled with the ache of lost time, is tender and full of longing. I loved how Ross slowly unraveled their story, teasing out their shared past while building up to what feels like an epic, fate-defying romance.
The narrator brought this entire story to life in such a magical way. Their voice pulled me in and made every chapter feel like a spell being cast. The audio experience was immersive, vivid, and lyrical—I often found myself lingering in scenes just to savor the words and atmosphere.
I'm only 18 chapters in, and already I’m captivated. The worldbuilding is intricate, the characters feel alive, and the stakes are rising with every chapter. I can’t wait to read (or listen to) the rest of this story and see how Matilda and Vincent’s journey unfolds—especially as Matilda is faced with choices that could change everything for both mortals and gods.
If you love dreamy, high-stakes fantasy with divine intrigue and slow-burn romance, Wild Reverence is a must.

I just finished the sneak peak and I'm loving it so far. As someone who hasn't read the Devine Rivals dialogs, I was nervous going in. I thought I was going to be lost in the world building, but nope.

Dual narration is the way to go. So glad they did this for the book. Can't wait to finish it!

I'm even more excited to read this whole book now!! I cannot wait until it's in my hands so I can devour the rest of it. Thank you so much for this sneak peek!! Rebecca Ross has yet to let me down!

It is hard for me to adequately convey how immersed and swept away by this book I was. It is, at times, incredibly romantic, heartbreaking, and deeply evocative. I have always loved Rebecca Ross’s prose, but this felt like a step up from her previous works.

The story follows a goddess (Celtic? Roman? Entirely her own, really), who finds herself a herald between godly and mortal realms. In the process, we meet a pantheon of gods and goddesses, and follow her as she slowly learns more about a mortal man whom she saves in dreams.

The lyrical nature of her writing matches the story so well, and it was painful for me to slow down when reading this. I felt so many emotions listening - it’s been a while since I’ve been this swept up in a story.

The narrators for this book hit all the right notes. I loved it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an ALC of this book!

"But if we were doomed, then let us fully embrace it."

Set in the same world as Divine Rivals, Wild Reverence is an exquisitely written fantasy novel that offers an epic story, well-developed characters, and romance that will take you on an emotional roller coaster.

Rebecca Ross's writing is just so beautiful and poetic. I loved this book from beginning to end. Specifically, the way this world of the gods is composed. Everything was so unique and detail-oriented. Matilda, our FMC, is so strong and incredible, all the decisions she makes and everything she stands for. Then, Vincent, our MMC, the way he cared for Matilda, I loved him so much. When these two meet, you get a romance that is pure magic. The way Vicent yearns for Matilda is just so good that it hurts: "Don't leave me behind like this, Red." Their story is so emotional, especially the second half of the book, but I loved their journey and what this book put me through. Pick this up if you're craving a new adult fantasy novel with excellent world-building and the perfect romance. 5 stars!!

Thank you to Netgally and ST. Martin's Press for the digital ARC copy of the book!!

I loved the letters of enchantment duology and was so excited to get to go back into this world and this book did not disappoint. It was incredible!

Matilda’s growth throughout the story was amazing. Being so sheltered by her mother at the beginning and then growing into her own over time as she grows up.

I absolutely loved the friends to lovers with marriage of convenience aspect of this story.

Getting to hear more about the gods was amazing. The world is so intriguing and intricate with such complex components. The world building is amazing. So vivid and beautiful.

Wild Reverence:⁣

Thank you so much @saturdaybooks @macmillan.audio for my gifted copies! #MacAudio2025 ⁣

“If heartless gods can be made soft by such love, we are all doomed.”⁣

Hear me out, this is more like Elements of Cadence than Divine Rivals. The world building, the different aspects, it takes a minute to really get settled into this world. We’re dealing with the Divines, realms, the whole 9. If you’re confused, keep going. Keep referring back to her reference guide in the front. But yes, the same world of Divine Rivals! But definitely more magical and world building. ⁣

Regardless, it’s absolutely so beautiful I truly can’t think of another word but stunning. The writing grips you in a way you don’t see coming, and you can’t help but listen to Ross’s words. I imagine it’s what it feels like listening to Enva play as well. ⁣

Audio was so so good. It felt like a lullaby and someone was reading me a bedtime story in the best way. George Weightman, Hannah van der Westhuysen and Rebecca Norfolk carried this dual narration. ⁣

To not spoil it, one of my favorites tropes does happen and life is good. And yes, when Dacre makes an appearance the Leonardo DiCaprio meme was alive and well. ⁣

Anywho, for those that may not enjoy higher fantasy but loved DR, this may be a bit hard to read but I so promise it’s worth it. Another 5 ⭐️ banger. ⁣

Out today!⁣

QOTD: Any new releases you’re excited about? No? What’s for dinner?

This book was beautifully written. I loved the touches of mythology mixed with the dreamland.

Matilda is such a tender character that learned to embrace her magic and grew throughout many different trials that were thrown at her.

There are moments of learning to live life after loss of different kinds, while still having hope and moving forward.

This book was a little slower than I anticipated but still loved Rebecca Ross' writing style.

Thanks so much to Macmillan Audio for this audio-sneak peak of one of the most anticipated fantasies of the year. All opinions below are my own.

I adored Divine Rivals and quickly devoured Ruthless Vows so I was excited to hear we were returning to this mythical world. The first quarter of the book gives us the origin of Matilda, she only knows her mother as a youth and is sent on a bit of a magical quest to fulfill her destiny, one that has been apparently mis-woven by the goddess of fate. We meet the boy dreaming of her, who is teased in the synopsis, but only the basic groundwork is laid here. As the sneak peak comes to an end with chapter 18, Matilda has suffered a loss and a truth is revealed to her that has shaken her to her core.

I loved the lush world building of this story. Journeying with Matilda from her youth made it easy to love her. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, so that was a bit overwhelming but I feel like it's coming together nicely. It reminds me of a recent book I loved The Winter Goddess, so I'm excited to keep going. I do miss the letter writing of the previous two novels but the synopsis makes me think there is some of that to come, so I have my fingers crossed.

This was an absolutely beautiful story of star-crossed friends losing each other and finding their way back together to form an unbreakable bond.
I have to admit that the very beginning of this book was a little slow to me, but the writing was so well done that it kept me coming back to continue reading. Once the book gets to part two the pacing really started to pick up and the only reason why I would find myself putting it down was because I could feel my heart breaking over and over again for the circumstances Matilda found herself facing.
I think Matilda is one of my favorite heroines; the way she persevered through so many obstacles was inspiring and I kept hoping for her to have a happy ending. I also really loved how loyal of a person she was, even though as a goddess she was expected to be more callous and cold.
This audio sneak peek was perfect to help get me in the mood to continue reading this book. The female narrator emulated Matilda perfectly, and I was happy to hear a small portion of the male narrator as well. I plan to do a re-listen to the full audiobook at some point.
