I wish SO badly it was the full audiobook! I really enjoy the narrator and the books speaks for itself. It’s the first book I’ve picked up in a long time that I’ve struggled to put down instead of struggling to get through it. I love this world and the characters and can’t wait to see how it ends!

Thank you to NetGalley, MacMillan Audio and Rebecca Ross for the chance to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
What a captivating beginning!  I NEED to see where this story goes!  Narration is wonderful- gotta love having a narrator feed us the pronunciations- ya know!?

Rebecca Ross is a beautiful writer, and I can tell this is going to be an amazing story, but I couldn’t get through the audio. It was just a little too dry, and I found myself sort of dreading going back to it. I’ll certainly be getting a copy when it comes out in print because the story is intriguing and the prose is, as always, gorgeous. But the audio was not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook sneak peek.
This audiobook was really spectacular! The narrators did a fantastic job voicing their characters. With every word they read you end up being immersed in this amazing world that Rebecca wrote. This sneak peek was a really amazing way to start reading this arc, throughout the chapters as we witness Matilda and Vincent going from children to adults, you can really hear the maturity that comes with growing up in their narration. In the first few chapters, the writing is filled with childlike innocence and hope, but as we see more of this world and the characters get older we see their outlook on life shift. And it was like listening to them grow up before your eyes. Honestly, I am a little sad that I have to continue reading this ARC without their wonderful voices but I am so glad that I could listen to this audiobook!

This sneak peek is delicious, and I cannot wait to read the whole book! I was fully immersed in Matilda's story, and felt like the narrator did an amazing job getting the character's personality shine through as well.

Rebecca Ross can do no wrong!

Divine Rivals was hands down one of my favorite reads of 2024 so when I saw this ARC I jumped at the chance to be back in the magical world of Letters of Enchantment.

Just like with all of RR’s books, you can expect her beautifully lush, lyrical writing style and her gorgeous prose will be sure to leave you with chills. The beginning does start off on the slower side but stay the course because it won’t be long until you’re fully invested into the story.

***If you loved Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows then don’t walk, RUN to pre-order a copy of Wild Reverence. The first prints coming out are absolutely gorgeous, I made sure to grab my copy last night.

The book itself is so beautifully written. I won't speak too much on it since this is just a review for the sneak peek. BUT if you haven't read the whole book, I highly recommend. The sneak peek mostly covers the slow (but still interesting) start. So if that was enough to get you hooked, you will definitely want to keep going.

The narration was excellent. The narrator really brings the characters and the story to life. I would pick up this audiobook if/when I plan on rereading the story because I would love to hear how she handles the rest of the story,

Really incredible. I am exceedingly persnickety about audiobooks, and am pleased to report this is excellent. Narrators are thoughtfully selected, tempo and diction match tempo and style of novel, and overall I found it immersive and beautiful. Blown away by the ease of which Rebecca crafts a complex world. I never needed the index (although I’m grateful it’s there). The prose is lyrical without being elitist or performative. I am struggling to wait for Tuesday to finish this book. Such an incredible book!

What a fun way to jump back into the divine rivals series!! It was a bit of a slow start and had slower moments, but I just love this world she has created for us.

Wanted to love this one but it wasn’t for me, it felt like the plot was just so slow paced. I do however love the poetic writing and the narrator was good at delivering it, maybe not enough differentiating between voices though, especially main characters.

Sneak peeks are hard to review because it’s not the full story BUT I loved this sample! I’m hooked and will be continuing the rest of the book on pub day. The narrators are fantastic!

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audiofor the ALC. All opinions are my own 🫶🏼

I had the audiobook sneak preview and the narration was hands down the best part of this book. Which is rough to say about one of my highly anticipated 2025 releases.

In the words of my parents, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

The reason I fell in love with Divine Rivals was the characters and the way their relationship developed. I knew Wild Reverence was going to be about different characters, but I was still expecting to fall in love with them. And I think the nicest thing I can say about the FMC and MMC is that they existed. At no point did I feel like Matilda and Vincent liked each other, much less had the kind of epic love to support that ending.

Alright, I lied earlier, because Bade and Nathaniel and Adria were pretty great. And I'm all for side characters stealing the show, but I'd like the rest of the show to at least put up a fight.

I think if you go into it with the expectation that it won't hold up to Divine Rivals, you might be able to enjoy this more than I did.

I received a free digital copy of the book and sampler of the audiobook from the publishers.

Overall, I would give this book 4.5 stars. I loved the world-building of the Skyward, Underling, and the Mortal realms. The dynamic between the Gods, Goddesses, and mortals was really fun to explore; it was complex, intriguing, and magical. Rebecca Ross has a way of writing the best stories; they are filled with tragedy, conflict, hope, loyalty, betrayal, trust, and love, and this book is no different. The story between Matilda and Vincent felt so tragic yet whimsical; I really did not want their story to end. I took my time reading this because I really didn't want this book to be finished. I may have to re-read Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows now that I know the background of Enva and Dacre.

Format: ebook and audiobook

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Rebecca Ross, St. Martin's Press, and Macmillan Audio for the ARC and ALC. This book was absolutely delightful.

Rebecca Ross knocks it out of the park once again with “Wild Reverence.” This fresh and compelling story expands the world we first fell in love with in Divine Rivals, giving us more background and deeper layers of mythology.

The novel introduces us to our two main characters, whose lives intertwine across years and dreams…a mortal boy tormented by nightmares and a goddess who dares to answer. Matilda is forced to hide every trace of vulnerability in a world where gods prey on weakness; she must discover her own strength while guarding her heart. She endures immense pain but transforms each wound into a lesson, always moving forward without looking back. Vincent is shadowed by grief, his past, and the dreams that won’t let him go. Can he place his trust in the goddess who holds his heart or will love crumble beneath the weight of so much loss?

Favorite character: Matilda…one of my all-time favorite FMCs.
Romance: Achingly beautiful and slow-burning. Spice rating minimal 0.5/5
World Building: We loved being back in the setting of Divine Rivals
Favorite Side Character: Bade…love him. The gruff war god whose hidden tenderness and sacrifices make him unforgettable.
Favorite runner-up side character: Nathanial…the steadfast and loyal brother everyone wishes they had.
Favorite Quote:
” But who could hold on to the wind? better yet—who would be so foolish as to trust—to love such a wild being?”

I need more!!! I cannot get enough of Rebecca’s stories. They are so captivating and the 18 chapter sample was not enough. I can’t wait to be able to read it all and see what happens with Matilda and Vincent.

sneak peeks are hard to review but I at least got the sense that this book will lean more high Fantasy than the divine rivals books. Since this story is about gods I do hope that will work better for me.

ARC Review: Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“We were doomed, she and I. One day, I would perish, and she would live on, endless as the stars. But if we were doomed, then let us fully embrace it.”

This book is for mythology lovers! Beyond the plot, the characters, and Ross’ poetic writing, what captivated me most was the worldbuilding. The Divine Realms drew me in with all the atmosphere of Greek mythology while also giving us an entirely new pantheon of gods/goddesses and celestial magic system.

The Divine Courts—three realms shaped by stars and horoscopes—felt alive in that uniquely mythic way where gods are both awe-inspiring and terrifying. This is what I crave in stories about divinity: characters who actually feel like gods. Just as in Greek myths, family ties mean little when power and survival are on the line. A god might love their child while also fearing them as a rival; they might marry for affection, or simply to trap, trick, or outmaneuver. Eternity stretches long, so alliances shift, betrayals cut deep, and divine drama never ends. Ross captures that beautifully—where every decision carries both mortal and cosmic stakes.

Matilda, our FMC, is one of these Divines. Not a mortal elevated to a Divine. Not a god that grew up amount humans. But a goddess from the start. That difference made her choices unpredictable, and the story constantly surprised me. The twists and turns were wild in the best way. By the time I reached the end, I immediately started over. Guess what? Even better the second time.

Now I’m planning a reread of Divine Rivals, now knowing the backstory between Dacre and Enva. I adored the Divine Rivals duology, but sometimes the divine conflicts there just felt like backdrop for Iris and Roman’s romance. In Wild Reverence, the drama between gods and the mortal cost of their rivalries were just as enthralling as Matilda and Vincent’s yearning love story. The yearning spans decades, people. When I tell you I was screaming! Gasping! Giggling and kicking my feet.

“Oh, Vince once told me all about you. His dearest friend, Matilda. Although he called you Red, then. The girl with the crimson hair.”

Rebecca Ross, you goddess. Reading this was a heavenly experience. I was also lucky to listen to the audiobook sneak peek of the first 18 chapters—the duet narration was gorgeous, and whether you read or listen, you truly can’t go wrong.

Huge thanks to St. Martin’s Press, Saturday Books, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the ARC.

It's difficult to provide a rating and review that's only based on the first eighteen chapters. The first hour or so contains a lot of world building and setup, but by the end of the sample it felt like the story was finally progressing. I'm a bit confused by the world building, but since I haven't read the full book I can't say for certain whether it's incomplete or if there will be additional information shared later in the story. Overall it's a strong start, and I'm interested to see what comes next.

This review is specifically for the first 18 chapters! And focused on the audio itself.

The narrators for this are absolute perfection. The speed, the intonations, the clarity, just perfect. The writing in this book is very expressive in a lyrical, singsong-y way and the narrators bring the words to life beautifully.

The story itself in the first 18 chapters is phenomenal. It’s building the world while simultaneously immersing you into the story with the perfect setup for the romance. There have already been a few plot points that have threatened to tear my heart out in the first roughly 25% of the story and I’m itching to continue! I got the eARC as well so I will be continuing with my eyeballs but just know I highly recommend this audiobook!
