Thanks to NetGalley, I was not only able to receive an ARC of Wild Reverence but also a sneak peek of the first 18 chapters of the audiobook and I swear it made the whole experience ten times more magical. I had already read the book before receiving the audio, but rereading and hearing the characters’ voices brought the story to life in such a vivid way. It pulled me right back in and made me fall even more in love with the characters and the world Rebecca Ross has created.

In the world where Underling and Skyward gods were still alive, Ross’ writing enchants me with its emotion and captivating world building. As I listened to the audiobook, I am not a fan of the narrator’s representation of the characters, especially for Bade and Zenia. It is as if they are always sleepy or breathless. Maybe she wants them sound wistful? But sorry no, I find them exasperating. Personally, I do not recommend the audiobook and would purchase the ebook for this (I need to finish the story and I cannot wait!)

3.5 stars for the audiobook but for the book it would be 4.5

I absolutely adored Wild Reverence when I read the ARC, so the moment I saw the audiobook sample was available I ran to download it! Listening to this sneak peek made me fall in love all over again.
Rebecca Ross’s writing is so lyrical and immersive it feels like you’re living inside the book, experiencing every emotion alongside her characters. Wild Reverence is a prequel to her Letters of Enchantment duology, and it ties into that world so beautifully and seamlessly.
Matilda and Vincent’s story - the love story between a goddess and a mortal - has completely captured my heart. I love them both so much, and I loved the narrators in this and thought they match the characters so well! Their voices add even more depth and atmosphere to this already breathtaking story.
I can’t wait to listen to the full audiobook once it’s released!
ーThank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the sneak peek!

FULL BOOK REVIEW will be following once I finish the kindle version.

The audio is perfect. I read the kindle version first and the voices matched how I envisioned they would sound.

I was able to listen to a sneak peek through NetGalley. I can see why so many people love these books. The writing was absolutely beautiful. There were a number of parts where I was genuinely in awe of how stunning some of the descriptions were. I was very excited at the idea of a young goddess trying to maneuver and find her way. Absolutely intriguing and had me hooked.

I had to look up the narrators, and they appear to be Hannah van der Westhuysen, George Weightman and Rebecca Norfolk (If this is incorrect, I’m happy to fix!). There were a number of parts where the narrator’s voice was so soft and beautiful, it fit perfectly into the authors writing style, feeling very lyrical.

My hiccup is a question that gets asked when a prequel gets released. Should you start with book number one, then go back to get the back story of the characters you already know? Or can you start with the back story, having no idea of any of the characters that are already established in books to come? I have never read Divine Rivals or Ruthless Vows, so all of these characters are new to me. Doing audiobook for fantasy has its drawbacks, and I think this prequel may be better suited if you have already read book one and two.

Regardless, the author is clearly talented and I completely understand why so many people are obsessed with these books. I would absolutely recommend this book to my fantasy book reading friends.

I wish desperately that this was not a sneak peek, because IT IS SO FREAKING GOOD. Hannah van der Westhuysen brings Rebecca Ross's lyrical writing to life. Her voice is so soothing and expressive, and I truly felt I was experiencing all of Matilda's feelings as my own. I am absolutely LOVING this story too. I loved Elements of Cadence so, so much, and Wild Reverence is giving me those feelings. Deep fantasy with beautiful lore and lyrical writing. I cannot wait to finish this audiobook when it is out in a few * very long * weeks. Rebecca Ross's narrative is one of the most beautiful I have ever read.

Rebecca Ross is one of my favorite authors, and the Letters of Enchantment series is one of my all time favorites. I was DYING for a copy of Wild Reverence (still cross my fingers every day my wish is granted and I get an advanced copy!) so I couldn't believe my luck that I saw a sneak peak available in listen now today. I quite literally dropped everything after work so I could listen, and it did not disappoint!

Rebecca Ross always writes enchanting, immersive, and addicting narratives. The first 18 chapters of Wild Reverence were no different. Her characters are nuanced with such depth, and despite living in a fantasy world, seem real. That, plus the dual narration in this audiobook, truly bring the story to life. I am a sucker for an immortal x mortal trope, and I need to see how Matilda and Vincent's story/love continues to unfold. I can't wait!

Thank you Macmillan Audio for the sneak peek of Wild Reverence in exchange for my honest review. While I have not had the opportunity to finish this book, I highly suspect that Wild Reverence will be a new favorite for lovers of Rebecca Ross, slow burn love, mythical elements, immersive world building and/or dual POV. Here's to counting down until publication day (September 2, 2025)!

I have been waiting for the audiobook to show up on NetGalley after following some of the audiobook updates on Instagram and OMG was I so excited to grab this on listen now.

I’ll share my original ARC review of the book content below but let me just say…the audio narrators sound phenomenal. They both fit the characters so so well and I adore duet / dual narrator audiobooks so this is super exciting. I will absolutely be picking up the full audiobook when it’s released for a reread! Thank you so much for the sneak peek Macmillan Audio!

It has been quite some time since I read Divine Rivals. It was a book I read so early on in my renewed reading journey that I don't even have a full review posted for it. I remember enjoying it but had no intense desire to immediately read Ruthless Vows. However, after reading Wild Reverence, I will definitely be circling back to finish the duology as it has peaked my interest once again.

I really did enjoy seeing the lush backstory to this world and how everything begins for Divine Rivals. This was a strong standalone story that I would absolutely pick up without even having any knowledge of Divine Rivals.

There were many Gods, Goddesses, and mortals to keep tabs on throughout the story. It was slightly overwhelming at first but everyone ends up flowing together easily with intertwined stories and fates. I had a soft spot for a few Gods in particular and some of the relationships carried heavy weight and emotional impact. Some just made me see red constantly.

I felt that Matilda was such a strong character in so many ways. She was not helpless or naïve. She was intuitive and was actively working around her hardened edges from her life in between the two realms of the Gods. You could tell her heart was aching to be soft and compassionate. Vincent was a strong character in his own way, although I do wish we saw a bit more of him at times. He was a YEARNER though guys....so precious. I just wanted to hug him and his big kind heart. The star crossed lovers hurt so good. I enjoy a little pain and tears with my romance.

Wild Reverence is a beautiful book full of emotion and beautiful prose. I had no desire to put this book down at all - it was one that consumed my thoughts heavily the past few days. The story is emotional and full of longing, love, strength, and betrayal. It also feels realistic in a way that is bittersweet while still carrying the romantic and whimsical feelings of fantasy/mythology.

As usual for an arc review, I won't dive deep into the plot since it will take away some of the mystery and anticipation. I am teetering somewhere between a 4.5 and a 5 because there were some very minor things that stood out that felt open ended but nothing that was glaringly terrible. It was more so....plot areas that felt unfinished or only added for the dramatic flare and then faded away. I'm rounding up to a 5★ for now - I really did love this. I have so many highlights and quotes that stood out that I can't wait to share once I get my final copy. ♡

Thank you so much to St. Martin's Press and Saturday books for the e-arc! As always, all opinions are my own.

Ahhhh!!! The narrators for this are absolute perfection. They sound exactly like I would think of them in my head. I love them both. Beyond that, the story itself is wonderful. Rebecca Ross has such dreamy poetic writing that sucks you right in. Can’t wait to listen to the rest when it’s out!!

I’ve already read an arc of this book previously and loved it so much. When I saw/heard on IG who as narrating, I knew I needed to listen too! Matilda and Vincent have the swooniest love story of all time, and the narrator did such a beautiful job bringing Matilda’s voice and cadence to life. Bravo!
