I wasn't quite connecting with this one and I had to DNF with the possibility of picking up in the future. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Publishing and 47North for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE IN SERIES! I really , really loved this book. I'm not completely and honestly sure why... the first in series was exciting, second a little dragged out, but this one really brought the series together. And I feel a bit like a traitor but I love seeing Kyon and Kricket together. So many questions answered with minimal action but so much more to the story. So worth finishing out the series, I am so glad I finally picked this one up!
Good for fans of YA, Romance and Dystopia

The third installment of the series is a surprise. Amy has done it again making the villain sympathetic and likable. Sometimes the story does get stalled with extensive description of the Etharian world, but the unconventional ending is fitting and I really hope the series will be continued beyond this book.

I really loved this book! Amy has an incredible imagination and this was a great start to the series. I have been wanting to read this book for quite some time and I’m glad I finally did. The writing was really good and the fantasy world was very creative as well. I can’t wait to grab the next book in the series!!

Its a good ending to the trilogy overall, but sadly this was my least favourite of the three books.

Its still great writing, nice characters and has all the things that the other two books had before, but for me there was just something missing in this last book.

Still defiantly worth a read, with a great female character in the lead and great writing and a really uniquely done setting!

Kyon Ensin finally has what he’s always wanted: possession of Kricket Hollowell, the priestess who foresees the future. Together, their combined power will be unrivaled. Kricket, however, doesn’t crave the crown of Ethar—she has an unbreakable desire to live life on her own terms, a life that she desperately wants to share with her love, Trey Allairis.
As conspiracies rage in the war for Ethar, Kricket’s so-called allies want to use her as a spy. Even those held closest cannot be trusted—including Astrid, her sister, and Giffen, a member of a mysterious order with a hidden agenda. But Kricket’s resolve will not allow her to be used as anyone’s pawn, even as the Brotherhood sharpens its plans to cut out her heart.
As the destiny prophesied by her mother approaches, Kricket will backtrack through her fiery future to reshape it. For she knows one thing above all else: the only person she can truly count on is herself.

I must have been a sucker for punishment (or, I requested this from Net Galley before I had read the first two books...) - I said in a review for the second book that I was done with this series. I guess I forgot I requested all three books.

However, my opinion hasn't changed. Still effectively a romance when the girl falls in love with her abuser. He tried to choke her under water at one point. He also decides on everything in her life - what she wants, needs, thinks - and this is being passed off as "romantic"?

Not even close.

I’m having trouble putting this review to paper. I have so much I want to express but I just can’t seem to find the proper words so…… here goes. After finishing DtS I will sum this up as it is Kricket’s story and hers alone. It’s not about her & Trey or even her and Kyon. There was not one thing in this story that I expected and at the end of the day it was refreshing. All I could think about while reading was that this could NOT be the last book. While Kricket may have made peace with her relationships with the two men in her life and found a place where she wants to be, myself as a reader I have not and you know what? It may not be an ideal ending for most but I applaud Ms. Bartol for writing it the way she did. I’m sure it could’ve been very easy to give readers what they “wanted” but it wouldn’t have been true to the author or to Kricket. This will definitely be a book that stays with me for a long time.

As a whole, I LOVED the Kricket series by Amy Bartol. But I have to admit that this book let me down in many ways. Amy is a skilled writer, there's no doubt about that. However, I wanted more for Kricket. I don't know if it's how things have turned out for her, but I felt like she wasn't as strong a character as she always has been. I hated the love triangle. The ending left me wanting SO much more. I'm honestly hoping this book is just the bridge to a final, far more spectacular ending to the series. Don't get me wrong, I love this universe and I'd gladly read any potential sequels.
