Beautiful book about the courage to be yourself

Who hasn't experienced it? You actually enjoy doing something, but the fear of doing it in front of others or being judged for it chokes you. This book, with beautiful illustrations and a child-friendly narrative, shows how important it is to express your needs and fears, and that something wonderful can come from doing so. You'll be surprised how many people feel the same way.

Recommended for reading by yourself or reading aloud, even for the youngest

This is the second book my son and I have read in this series and we are loving them! This book was great. I really liked that the lesson here was it’s ok to feel uncomfortable and you don’t have to push through something if it doesn’t feel right. It’s ok to advocate for yourself. This is a lesson we teach our son regularly. As always, the illustrations and little sings were adorable!

The Great Dance-On (Mini-Musical Tales from Bird Mountain School)
by Mary Rand Hess
Sometimes things are scary, but children can understand what is happening by telling someone about those fears. The Dance on is one of those solutions to difficult situations. It teaches children to ask questions and give self expression, to understand events around them.
