Thank you to Net Galley, Laura Carter and Boldwood Books for the ARC!
A Rookie Mistake is a sports romance that follows sports agent Kansas (“Sas”) and footballer Colton and their forbidden client-agent love affair. Colton is in hot water with some bad press and Sas is sticking around Texas to get to the bottom of it, and maybe get some extra time with Colton the “cowboy”. I found the characters easy to connect with and root for throughout the book, but what really made it enjoyable was the number of funny and sweet side characters! Told from dual POVs, the reader gets insight into both FMC and MMC and gets to enjoy the romantic tension build between Sas and Colton, all while Sas is trying to make a name for herself at her fathers agency and Colton is trying to navigate multiple challenges in his personal life. An easy and fast read with a confident and strong FMC and a MMC who has deep emotions even though he presents as stoic. I will definitely be reading the second book in this series once it’s released!

A Rookie Mistake by Laura Carter is a forbidden love, fake dating, football romance. Kansas "Sas" is one of the newest sports agents at her firm, trying to follow in her father (Harris') footsteps with a highly successful career. Colton was a rising star in the league, however a dropped pass in the big game and several off field scandals, have caused his team to be cautious about renewing his contract. Sas and Harris have differing opinions on the best way to save his career and get him a larger contract. While I really love sports romance, this book was a little bit of a challenge for me to get into. The story was fine however quite predictable. I found the characters likeable for the most part, but I did struggle with misogyny and treatment from Harris towards Sas. This was an easy read overall, it just seemed to be missing something to make it special.

Kansas stays in texas to get her plan in motion. At first Colton is not a fan of Kansas's plan to fix his image but along the way changes his tune. The more time they spend together, kansas and colton devlop feelings for each other. But they face the issue of her job. Her job and family are in New York where colton lives and plays football in texas. Great book, can't wait to read Annie's book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I've devoured it in about 3 hours.
You never see the word discombobulated and then it comes up 4 times in one book.
I enjoyed the plot and the characters. At times the 'but we can't' trope annoyed me a bit, minor annoyance only. Some other minor things irritated me, but not enough to dent my enjoyment.
