I'm really torn on this one. Generally I'm here for all things bookish involving librarian main characters but the premise of this book, in which an engaged couple agrees to take a 'break' in order to date other people before they get married, had me put off right from the start. I mean can we all agree, that no good things come from 'being on a break'???
That said the situation does eventually change and we get a satisfying slow burn friends to lovers romance involving a librarian turned aspiring bookstore owner. I found myself rooting easily for Ingrid and Macon and really hoping they wouldn't get in their own way of a HEA. It was good on audio narrated by Eva Kaminsky (a fav) but it's still not going to go down as a favorite of the year unfortunately.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review. Recommended for fans of books like Emily Austin's Is this a cry for help.
