Such a good, quick read!
The beginning of this book seems like it's going to be predictable but it's far from it.
Lola just wants answers about her adoption and biological family- but she got way more than she bargained for!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!

Review of ‘Dead of Winter’ by Keri Beevis due to be published on 10 October 2025 by Boldwood Books.
Lola, having to travel for work just before Christmas near where the brother she has never met lives, reaches out to him to get some answers as to why she was adopted as a child. Daniel doesn’t want to see her, but eventually relents, asking her to come to his house, Midwinter Manor.
The journey Lola takes turns treacherous due to a blizzard, receiving a less than warm welcome from Daniel, his wife Rose and her brother Jimmy. Lola soon wishes she hadn’t gone to the house, as overhead conversations hint that all is not what it seems.
This is a pacy thriller, with plenty of dramatic scenes and detestable characters. When you figure out the twist, you find yourself urging Lola to connect the jigsaw pieces to the secrets and lies, and for her to get the answers she needs.
This was an unputdownable book, which had me reading late into the night to see how it ended. Definitely a recommended read.

Dead of Winter is a fast paced, popcorn thriller. I was immediately drawn in by the characters and the author’s story telling, and couldn’t put it down! Even though at about the fifty percent mark I knew the direction the story was going, it was thrilling to read when each character figured it out.
Lola travels to meet the brother she never knew existed. It wasn’t a warm welcome and Lola soon realizes she made a mistake in wanting to know about the family that gave her up for adoption. With only a pushy client and her ex boyfriend knowing where she is, she struggles to get away and fight for her life after discovering family secrets.
