Thank you to Harlequin Audio for the ALC.

Was this great writing? Debatable. Were the characters interesting and engaging? Debatable. Was this story akin to contemporary fantasy? Absolutely. Was the plot a one way ticket to Bonkersville (population: me)? Oh yes. Did I have a fun time listening? I think did?

Kidnapped for Her Secret is an accidental pregnancy romance featuring two billionaire virgins. But that's just a surface level start! The male main character, Sebastian Shard, is a formerly homeless man turned mysterious and reclusive billionaire artist. He is the embodiment of darkness! He is all that lurks in the shadows! He knows nothing of love! In short, he's Batman. The female main character, Aurora Arundel, is an heiress haunted by the loss of her older brother. She is the white saviour philanthropist with a sad past and a heart of gold. She is all things good and light! She is dainty and delicate! She must be protected from all the dark in this world! I grow weary of female main characters described in this narrow, one dimensional illustration of femininity. Indeed, the main issue I had with the relationship dynamic in this book was that the FMC bends over backwards in her commitment to this unreachable man-who refuses to change for anyone. Growth is for losers!

I was not a fan of the beneficent, ethical billionaire aspect here. The riches terrorize these people! They don't want it! They are better than the rest of the billionaire class because they are innately good (Aurora) / bad (Sebastian).

I am in what seems like the small, niche minority who genuinely likes the accidental pregnancy trope. I enjoy how the plot can unfold when two characters come together for a night of passion and must then address the baby in the womb. Will there be consideration of abortion? How was birth control addressed prior to the tryst? In this case, it's a very light touch. Ignoring the first and only minutely touching on the latter.

Kitty Kelly did a good job with the narration. She really made Sebastian sound like Batman. It was very fitting.
