Puzzling Peril at Quandary Park
A Mysterious Case to Solve

I so enjoyed this title that I went back and looked for the first in the series which I had not read. Anyone who enjoys puzzle solving will, I think, find this book engaging.
Meet the characters and see their portraits, then plunge into the story. There is much to discover.
Solutions to the individual puzzles often depend on deciphering the visual clues in the detailed illustrations that seem reminiscent of Edward Gorey. The text also engages the solver/sleuth. In fact, the reader is referred to as “you.”
I could not always figure out the answers to the individual puzzles but that is ok. The answers when I looked at them made sense. The fun is in trying.
Hopefully by the end, readers will know who killed the biscuit heiress. Fans will hope that another book is forthcoming.
Recommended to puzzle solvers and mystery lovers.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this title. All opinions are my own.

This is great fun, and would be even more fun with a friend. The mystery has just enough mystery and the story has just the right amount of detail and complexity. But I really loved the pictures-- gorgeous!

How I adored Stephanie von Reiswitz’s Murder Most Puzzling: Peril at Quandary Park! This unique mystery novel provides photos, illustrations and an abundance of clues that allows the reader to deduce what happened in several deaths involving the denizens of Quandary Park and their friends. I did not come even close to figuring out anything (but one tidbit), and I still enjoyed every minute spent with this book. I can’t wait to read the previous two Murder Most Puzzling books!
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and Chronicle Books in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book. Murder Most Puzzling: Peril at Quandary Park by Stephanie von Reiswitz is such a cute, cozy story that has so many things this mystery loving, Friday-the-13th-born, spooky girl loves! So great to read this and take a break from the usual gory, violent murder or horror stories that tend to dominate the autumn season. The characters were cute and also a little reliable and knowable, and the plot was nicely twisted but also not so unbelievable to have garnered any kind of eye roll.

Was not able to download this book on any device or platform, but it looks intriguing. Maybe needs to be reformatted??

Beautiful illustrations hide clues to the puzzles in this book of short mysteries with an overarching plot of the death of a wealthy woman. Fans of Exit puzzle games and escape rooms will find the different kinds of puzzles familiar and fun. The puzzles also reminded me of the old minute mysteries books with better illustrations. This (especially a print version) would make a good gift for puzzle lovers.
I got this as an ARC from Netgalley and am grateful to the author & publisher for the opportunity to read and review this.

3 star to The Perilous Puzzles of Quandary Park, a quirky and entertaining, reader-immersive mystery puzzle. Following the untimely death of eccentric socialite and heiress, Adelaide Hatchett, the reader is invited into the role of private investigator in this interactive "whodunnit" case.
The puzzles and ciphers were cleverly put together and fun to solve, or at least attempt. The artwork throughout the book was visually striking and carried a whimsy, gothic vibe across the story. Some of the puzzle/clue solutions seemed a bit far-fetched, but the final solution worked, so I guess that's that.
Thank you to the author for a fun read, and thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an arc of this book.

This is very clever - I love puzzles and reader-involved mysteries.
Some of the puzzles were very difficult to solve (I still don't understand the medicine cabinet bottles one) but the others were fun. I much prefer visual puzzles (like the stair/statue one) to solving word puzzles (like the coded letters.) There are both clues and solutions at the back if you don't want to stall out. It might also be easier to examine the photos if you have a larger image to look at (and the images are beautiful). The cast of characters is clever and the whodunnit is fun to figure out even if puzzles aren't your thing or you're not patient enough.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and review!

I loved the first book in this series and I was so excited to see that a second would be released. I’ve already preordered it and I can’t wait for it to be the coffee table book in my living room. The artwork inside the book is beautiful, the puzzles are mysterious and fun!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

3.5 rounded up to 4
Perilous at Quandary Park is a clever and visually striking puzzle-mystery. The gothic illustrations added a quirky vibe, and the mix of riddles, logic challenges, and story clues makes exploring the manor feel like a true whodunit experience.
Some of the puzzle solutions did feel like they required a bit of a leap, but I appreciated that the book doesn’t stall you out if you miss one, you can keep moving forward and still enjoy the overall mystery.
It’s fun, immersive, and beautifully put together, perfect for fans of interactive mysteries and puzzle-solving with a darkly playful twist.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this puzzle book.
