Blue Collar Billionaire by Amy Andrews
Boldwood Books — Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my gifted ARC.
Let me just start by saying: if your idea of a good time is getting stuck in an elevator with a tatted-up maintenance man who oozes sexual confidence and turns out to secretly be loaded—then congratulations, Amy Andrews wrote this book for you.
Blue Collar Billionaire is everything its title promises and more. It’s the perfect rom-com cocktail: one part forced proximity, one part opposites attract, a heavy pour of secret billionaire, and a splash of chaos. Serve it hot. Like, actually hot. Like crack-a-window open hot. Seriously, don’t read this on public transit unless you’re okay with people watching your face go from flirty giggle to full-body blush.
We meet Holly Vincent—brilliant, burnt-out ER intern, high-functioning caffeine addict, and possibly allergic to fun. Her life is one long rotation of sleepless shifts, brutal exams, and zero personal time. She’s the kind of woman who schedules crying sessions between surgeries and still shows up ten minutes early. Romance? Not on the calendar. She barely has time to microwave leftovers, let alone fall in love.
Then, enter Danny Colton.
Danny is the downstairs neighbor with a toolbox, a drum kit, and the kind of face that makes women forget how doorknobs work. He’s cocky, flirty, and entirely too good at getting under Holly’s skin. When the elevator in their building breaks down—and yes, you saw that trope coming from space—they get stuck together for a few hours of close quarters, unfiltered banter, and inappropriate levels of sexual tension. It’s giving “this can’t happen” energy while also being a little please let this happen immediately.
Now here’s the part I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did: Danny isn’t just a spicy handyman with a talent for dirty talk. He’s also smart, emotionally aware, and somehow not a walking red flag. When they finally get out of that elevator (and out of their clothes, because duh), he doesn’t ghost her or turn into a moody brooding mess. No, he starts showing up for her. Quietly, consistently. He feeds her. He flirts with her friends. He supports her career like a man who actually respects women. Revolutionary.
Then comes the twist. Spoiler-but-not-really: Danny inherits a billion-dollar empire from his estranged uncle, the building super. You’d think this would be a shortcut to happily-ever-after. But nope. Holly doesn’t care about money, not when she’s still drowning in hospital shifts and trying to prove herself in a system designed to break her. She doesn’t need Danny to swoop in and save her—she needs him to get it. Cue identity crisis.
What I loved about this book—aside from the flirting, the steam, and the way Danny says “prim” like it’s both an insult and a turn-on—is how it doesn’t let either character off the hook. Holly has to learn to let someone in without sacrificing her ambition. Danny has to figure out how to love without trying to fix. And both of them have to figure out how to meet in the messy middle.
There’s a quote that stopped me cold: “You don’t buy someone’s heart. You earn it with time, with patience, and with showing up—even when it’s inconvenient.” That hit. That’s the heartbeat of this story.
Andrews’ writing is sharp, warm, and wickedly fun. She’s got a gift for pairing biting humor with genuine emotion—just when you think the story’s veering into full rom-com absurdity, she hits you with a line that makes your chest ache. It’s sexy, but it’s got soul. The elevator scenes will fry your e-reader, yes, but it’s the quiet moments—the soup, the couch naps, the whispered truths—that will make you fall in love.
If I had one nit to pick, it’s the final chapter. It leans a little too hard into tidy wrap-up territory. It wasn’t bad, just unnecessary. The story had already hit its emotional landing, and that last scene felt like someone stapled a bow on a box that didn’t need it.
But honestly? That’s me being picky. Because overall, this book was a warm, spicy, utterly satisfying read that I devoured in one sitting and then immediately wanted to reread just to catch all the quips I missed while distracted by Danny’s abs.
If you’re a fan of Ana Huang’s electric tension, Rosa Lucas’ messy-fun leads, or TL Swan’s “whoops, he’s rich” reveals, Blue Collar Billionaire is a must-read. It’s smart, sexy, and laugh-out-loud funny without ever losing its emotional depth. You’ll swoon, you’ll snort-laugh, and you’ll definitely need a fan nearby.

Sexually repressed ER doctor vs overly sexualized drummer combined with fantasy fueled sex scenes. Is this hot? Yes. Don’t get me wrong, I like hot, but this lacked the romance plot. If you want a quick dirty read, this is for you.

This was a good story. An ER doctor studying for her residency when the heat goes out during a snow storm. She pounds on the door of the super and there is his nephew who is filling in while Bob goes to Reno. They take the elevator to the basement and get stuck for hours. She is annoyed with herself as she is very attracted to him but doesn't feel she has time. They sure do have some hot chemistry in that elevator. He gradually inserts himself into her life and they are very compatible. When Bob dies, everything is turned upside down and it gets confusing for awhile. To be honest, I really liked the story except for the last chapter. It just wasn't necessary.
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

Cute and very spicy romance between two total opposites that go from pining for each other, to a heated elevator incident, back to pining! She is totally immersed in work, he is immersed in life - but both will learn a few lessons on life lived well to reach their HEA. Some definite chuckle moments and likeable characters.

If the picture of sexy, tatted man on the cover does not make the reader drool, the author's description of not just his physical attributes but his smoldering interaction with Holly. surely will.
The author creates in Danny, a man that not only is a feast for the eyes but knows how to treat his lady, He takes care of her by ensuring she is fed, by interacting with her colleagues recognizing their role in her life, and by supporting her career aspirations.
He's the total package wrapped up in this quick, but quite satisfying read.

If you like your romance novels spicy, then this is the romance novel for you. I couldn't put it down and read it in less than a day. I liked the easy to follow story and the main characters chemistry was off the charts 🌶️🥵. I highly recommend it and I look forward to reading more by the author.
