This novel shows a great sense of humanity, sensitivity and realism. Even though I didn't appreciate the light tone depicting Maurice's psychological development, making the main character look rather silly, I found the last quarter of the book much more interesting. This novel brings the reader to reflect about guilt, trauma, denial, repression of self questioning and feelings. Many of these terms convey negative emotions indeed. However, this novel also brings something big, nearly unbeatable: hope entwined with resilience. A great read I will not forget.
I received a digital copy of this novel from NetGalley and I have voluntarily written an honest review.
