Thank you Nick Bruel, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group and NetGalley for a copy of *Bad Kitty Gets a Job* in exchange for my honest review🐈⬛️
Publication date: May 05, 2026 🗓
My tween has read many Bad Kitty book and likes them all. This one is no exception. Another fun addition to the Bad Kitty series!
Here is my tween's review: "I really enjoyed reading "Bad Kitty Gets a Job". In the book, Bad Kitty wants something for her video game and has to do jobs to get money for the levelup. She tries everything, from mowing lawns to babysitting to walking dogs. It's very funny! Especially when the lawn mower gets stuck in the tree and does not come back."

5/5
Thank you to NetGalley and Roaring Brook Press for an arc. All opinions are my own.
I grew up reading the Bad Kitty book and I absolutely adored them as a kid. While I’ve definitely outgrown the target market, I did still enjoy this installment in the series. It’s got the same goofy slapstick humor I remember, but it’s also fun to see Bad Kitty falling for video game marketing scams. Since Kitty also has to babysit in this one, it involves some very general instructions for taking care of a child, which I think is nice for people to learn early on in life. Overall, this was a very silly children's book that most kids would enjoy.

I grew up reading this series throughout my elementary school years, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it on NetGalley. Overall, I enjoyed the story and getting to see Kitty attempt different tasks, even if she wasn't very successful at some. The Salamipalooza scenes were really unexpected and gave me a great laugh. The ending was extremely heartwarming and provided the valuable lesson that moments with loved ones are meaningful and important.
