Gorgeous cover, an author I adore, of course I had to check this out!
But … it was surprisingly awful. Just lots of whining and gossip, told in ‘telling’, rather than ‘showing’ writing style. Very generic, very dull. I really tried to like it but … it just didn’t hit.

Set around the holidays, yet manages to not pack those holiday vibes. The ‘opposites-attract’ trope should’ve been fun but, alas, there was no fun to be found here.

It’s a no for me.
2 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Mostly smooth overall sound quality minus a little bit of clicking in 1-2 spots. Narrator wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good either, a bit robotic. 3 stars on this front.

Audiobook Review – 3 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I enjoyed Sarah Morgan’s story in A Merry Little Lie—it had her usual warmth, festive charm, and a mix of romance and emotion that makes her books feel cozy and engaging. The storyline itself was sweet, with the holiday setting adding an extra touch of magic.
Unfortunately, the narration didn’t work for me. I found it distracting and it pulled me out of the story rather than enhancing it. Because of that, I couldn’t fully immerse myself in the audiobook experience.
While the book itself was enjoyable, I think I would have preferred reading it in print or ebook format rather than listening.

Thank you NetGalley and harlequin audio for the audio ARC

Nobody does a cozy holiday story quote like Sarah Morgan! Sarah Morgan’s books have become an automatic holiday read each year.
