When the vampire slayer that’s been hunting her for years suddenly gets amnesia, Ethel finds herself caring for him. Lazlo doesn’t know who they are to each other, but he feels drawn to her. It’s a foreign concept to Ethel who has always known him to hate her, but maybe she’s been wrong. This short story was so unbelievable that it was hard to enjoy. Yes, it’s a story about vampires, but the amnesia was a little too convenient. He knew he had weapons and was too aware of his surroundings, but he didn’t push when told that he was just a regular guy. As someone who had apparently been alive for centuries, you’d think there’d be different rules to his amnesia, but no just a guy who forgot everything except that he’s in love with this woman that he’s with. The dual narrators in the audiobook were a nice touch, but Lazlo’s accent was off-putting and monotonous. This book wasn’t bad, but it honestly wasn’t good either. It was a solid meh, 3 star read.
