In a time where loneliness is at an all time high, Dear Adam sheds light on how people turn to A.I. to talk about their feelings. Whether it's about love, trauma, heartbreak, or joys, A.I. in the real world tends to be the therapist that people turn to because it's free.
Throughout Dear Adam we get to know Ava and Aiden through their conversations using Aiden's revolutionary A.I. program. Both characters are trying to make their names known in their respective industries - Ava, a venture capitalist, and Aiden, the creator behind a more empathetic A.I. program. Both have their own secrets and long for a real connection with another human being who looks past their exterior appearances.
What I wasn't expecting throughout the book were all the plot twists. Serenity does a great job in weaving what's happening outside of the A.I. conversations and tying it together with the conversations Aiden and Ava have through the A.I. program.
The ending was very satisfying and I think fellow readers will appreciate a solid, non-cliffhanger conclusion to the story. As this is the first book I've read by Serenity Bea, I was pleasantly surprised at the character development. I felt a range of emotions, through reading this novel, as Ava reminded of myself at times.
Overall, I do recommend this book for those who appreciate a lighter romance. It reminds me of other A.I.-related books like "Life Derailed: A Novel" by Beth Merlin.
