What a storyteller Nicole Trope is. I was hooked from the start! She is a master at creating suspense and mystery! The twists didn’t stop coming!

I was gripped from onset and the tension was excellent! I love all her books and this one was no different!

It was dark, well-plotted and intriguing psychological thriller all the characters were well-fleshed, it was truly unputdownable! Can’t wait for the next book!

HUGE 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars from me!

Juliet is conflicted after her failed suicide attempt, the result of an accident that derails her career as a dancer. Because, in the course of her rehabilitation, the therapy seems to trigger disturbing memories of abuse and neglect from her childhood.

Yet everyone believes that Juliet's parents are loving and fond, and even her therapists do not seem to take her claim seriously. The only person who believes her is Adam, a handsome young man who befriends her after a chance encounter at a coffee bar.

But Adam is not Juliet thinks he is, and Juliet's parents are not who she thinks they are either...

I like Nicole Trope's writing, but this story required a fairly major suspension of disbelief. I didn't really warm to Juliet's character either. Entertaining enough, but not my favourite of Trope's books.

I wasn't sure how i was going to feel about this book. Would it be sad and depressing with Juliet's mental health issue's?
Well let me tell you it was so worth pushing on.
Did i believe her? Yes then no.
So many twists and even towards the end i was desperate to find out the facts.
Cleverly written by this talented author.
I devoured this book in several sittings.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
A five star one not to be missed read.

What Have You Done by Nicole Trope – 4 stars

You know that moment when you pick up a thriller and within ten pages you’re already side-eyeing every single character? That was me with What Have You Done. Nicole Trope wastes no time setting the stage: quiet suburban street, pearl-clutching neighbors, two stretchers, and Juliet—the supposedly dutiful daughter—being hauled off in handcuffs. Everyone’s whispering “we always knew there was something off about her.” Classic suburban scandal vibes. Delicious.

The Cordells looked like the perfect family from the outside—picture frames, flowers on the table, shiny smiles. But of course, this is a Nicole Trope novel, which means perfection lasts about three pages before we’re knee-deep in secrets, lies, and someone’s probably about to have a very bad day.

Here’s the thing: was the book see-through at times? Yes. I clocked a few twists early and felt very Sherlock Holmes about it. But did I care? Not one bit. Because the ride itself was entertaining as hell. Trope paces her stories like she’s dangling you over a cliff by your fingertips—every chapter ends with just enough of a tease that you have to keep going. Next thing I knew, I’d inhaled the whole thing in under 24 hours.

Juliet as a character is a perfect storm of “is she a victim, or is she playing us all?” and I loved wobbling back and forth between sympathy and suspicion. And the family dynamic? A masterclass in dysfunction. Trope doesn’t just dump drama on you—she peels it back slowly, one nasty little layer at a time, until suddenly you’re staring at the mess thinking, ah, so that’s what was festering under all those picture-perfect smiles.

Is it groundbreaking? No. Is it a flawless, twist-you-didn’t-see-coming kind of thriller? Also no. But is it a fun, bingeable popcorn read with juicy drama and enough tension to keep you locked in your seat? Absolutely.

What Have You Done is psychological thriller comfort food. Predictable in places, yes—but also compulsively readable, juicy enough to keep you entertained, and just the right level of dark to scratch that “domestic suspense” itch. Four stars, and I’d happily devour another Trope novel the next time I want a one-sitting thriller binge.

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Nicole Trope for the ARC. all opinions are my own
