This is a great addition to a really fun series that I hope continues on for books and books to come. Alex Easton is one for the ages!

Can you read this as a standalone? Yes. Should you? No, mostly because the protagonist is so fun to follow that it's a real miss to not spend as much time with them as possible. Also, these books have their own vibes. Read as a complement, each one offers a piece of adventure and character development that readers can enjoy both independently AND to enhance their experience with characters and overall scheme.

T. Kingfisher is a compelling writer who creates worlds I can't wait to visit only from the safety of a reader's perspective, and this recent effort is no exception. When and where accessible, I enthusiastically recommend the audio version. Avi Roque really brings this great character and narrative to life.

I'm already dying for the next one.
