🔥 A Very Mildly Flammable Romance: Igniting an Adventure
If you're looking for a solid romantasy read with a charmingly underpowered heroine and enough magic to make you forget you have laundry to do, The Forgotten Flame is for you. Just don't try to light anything with your mind after reading. Trust me on this one.
➡️ 🗺️ Plot
Solana gets abandoned by her family (a relatable fear) and decides to hit the road. She finds a mysterious sailor (forced proximity, obviously) and their "find my family" quest quickly derails into a "stumble upon a lost civilization" adventure. Also, there's a sentient house that's basically a magical, judging grandmother. Good times.
➡️ 💕 The Romance
This is a slow-burn romance, which is perfect for a book about fire magic. The tension builds like a damp campfire, taking its sweet time to catch. It's a welcome change from the typical "love at first sight, solve the world's problems by Tuesday" fantasy couples.
➡️ ✍️ Final Thoughts
Overall, The Forgotten Flame is a fun and refreshing take on the genre. It's a quick, enjoyable read that proves even the smallest spark can make for a great story.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC of this book. My to-do list is now officially on fire (metaphorically, of course), and it was absolutely worth it. And a special shout-out to Brilynn O'Neal for writing a story so good, I actually considered abandoning all my responsibilities to re-read it immediately.
