I freaking loved this book! The main characters are so likable (and the semi-villain is top-tier broody hotness 👀🔥). I really enjoyed the fresh, almost Outlander-style twist on werewolves—it gave the story such a unique feel. Normally I’m not a fan of love triangles, but this one feels like it could lead somewhere really intriguing. I cannot wait to see where this series goes next!

The worldbuilding is not fully fleshed out. It's basically the Scottish revolution of the 17th and 18th century, but the Scottish people are werewolves. Aurora is a princess who is being forced by her father to marry a cruel man. When Aurora shows mercy on a young werewolf who is fighting to the death, she is taken by a werewolf alpha, Callum, and brought back to live with the werewolves. Callum wants to use her as a hostage so that the King will return this magical stone that will allow the werewolves to shift at will (instead of waiting for a full moon).

The writing was a bit trite, but it was still a fun read. I finished it in basically one sitting. Fans of From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout ] will love the enemies-to-lovers and relationship angst. I can't wait to read book two.
