wow what a powerful read this was. full of so many emotional moment that hit you right in the heart and soul. you can feel these feelings. you can feel them as if they might be your own. and infact some of them are. its so relatable. its gentle, but not. its tender but not. its beautiful but not. its all the things it should be and then some.
this book is really about how you move on, forgiving the past. but then how you'd do that when there is no choice because you need the very [lace or people that contains that hurt. and wow are we taken on a journey. and with a character i just rooted for from the start.
this book does indeed touch on those heavier subjects. but Kelly does it with such kindness running through her telling of it. it felt like you are getting the realness of it but in a way someone holding your hand as you do so. i was also struck in this book how much i needed a happy ending for them. but knowing what the story contained that definitely wasn't a given so i was a little tense shall we say.
this story brings us to Millie who has everything going right. that is until life halts in the worst way when she gets given a cancer diagnosis. whilst having to come to terms with this she also then has to face things that have shaped her from her past. and how those ripples still shape her in the present. whats important now? what does she really want and need?
this book was so moving and the details were spot on throughout. i haven't felt so much in or for a book like this in a while and its not all that common occurrence. when you read a book like this you are holding such joy simply for the fact its so good! there is nothing better than a good book no matter what genre or themes it contains. when done well, there is no better feeling. and this one certainly is.
i love also how Millie wasn't unable to see how her own past formed for others too. when she has to get help by the very people in the memories of her pain she does so with such relatable ways but also doesn't only see into her own pain and finds others parts too. and how stepping out of every comfort task for help might just be the very thing she needs and has needed for so long.
this book is brilliant. and then some. it would go into the i wish i could give it more stars kind of book.
