There are some good things here: some nice sentences with a good beat and a decent flow. They do a solid job of giving the reader what they need to know and building information about the characters.
However, the writing otherwise leaves a lot to be desired. There's a mix of British and American English, and I caught typos and misused punctuation that pulled me out of the story. The emotion is simply stated instead of being shown, which makes it hard to connect with the characters. The book would really benefit from a solid structural and line edit, plus a good proofread. There's potential here!
I was excited about the premise of this book (as a queer woman who used to date a rugby player!), and again, there were some decent bits. It was a decent read for free, but it's not something I'd buy.
