This was an entertaining, fast-paced thriller. However, I think I ended up wanting more. More insight into the nosy neighbor's past, more snippets of Matt's and Sylvie's relationship living together but apart. There were a lot of different threads in this book, but it was all surface level. I felt dissatisfied with the ending, especially Sylvie letting off a side character way too easily.

Read in 2 hours and 36 minutes.
This reminded me of The Break-In, with the focus being centred around the fraught relationships in a merged family more than the missing women.
This is because, although both disappearances were frequently mentioned, there were so many moving parts to this plot that the focus got muddied and Sylvie and Brenda’s storyline dominated.
I liked seeing the various POVs and how the dynamics shifted alongside the viewpoints, but the ending seemed a hodgepodge of twists in order to provide answers.
It’s still an enjoyable book (if you ignore the police perspective and the contrived persona of the Superintendent) and I appreciated the hopeful mood at the end.
Honestly, I’d like to hear more about the house juggling between Matt and Sylvie as that had a lot of potential.
I’d be interested to see if the author can carry out an unconventional idea like that without losing steam, so I’ll be watching closely.
Not as close as Brenda, though…

Wow!!! I'm floored by how crazy good My Husband Next Door by K.L Slater is. It's everything I want in a domestic suspense book and more. Secrets, lies, deception, and murder are all front and center. Slater, a must-read for me author gets better with each new suspense story. This is my new favorite.
I have never heard of an LAT marriage before, so I was immediately intrigued by the premise of this story. I was sucked in immediately and seriously didn't put this book down until the last page. The action started at page one and was packed in throughout the entire book. Multiple stories are so flawlessly woven together to produce one explosive ending. My head was spinning, and my jaw was on the floor by the end. I was actually sad when it ended. I wanted more. To me, that's the sign of a great book, and this was a GREAT book. I very highly recommend this if you like a fiery domestic suspense book.

I can highly recommend My Husband Next Door (kindle edition) a fast paced psychological thriller by K.L. Slater.
Sylvie and Matt have an unusual marital arrangement as they live next door but one to each other which they both appreciate as they can take turns to spend time with each other on their terms. They both have a daughter Jess and baby grandaughter Scarlet Mae who lives with her partner Ed.
Matt works away most of the time and Sylvie misses him so much. Then one day a new neighbour Brenda a very lonely elderly lady with her cat takes residence opposite Sylvie and unbeknown to both Sylvie and Matt she is about to become a neighbour from hell as they find out she is not the average Miss nosy parker.
Two local young women one an old schoolfriend of Sylvie's daughter Jess have gone missing speculations are rife as to whether they have been murdered or not.
Lies, secrets, vengeance, murder, broken hearts, loneliness all come into the mix in this exciting thriller.

My Husband Next Door is a masterclass in suspense, keeping readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story’s twists are both surprising and perfectly executed, making every chapter unpredictable. The main characters are compelling, with motivations that add depth to the tense plot. The pacing is relentless, driving the narrative forward with constant excitement. A truly thrilling read that fans of the genre will devour.

This was an addictive psychological thriller full of secrets and plenty of twists and turns and a little bit of everything else besides. I was fully invested in the story and was hooked from the first page and read it in practically one sitting as I couldn’t put it down.

This book pulled me in right from the start. I really liked the mix of suspense and everyday drama—it made me want to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. The characters were interesting, and I enjoyed trying to figure out who I could trust and who was hiding something

My Husband Next Door is a fast paced read that will keep you turning those pages.
Twists and turns, secrets and lies combined with characters you love and those you snarl at.
Sylie and her husband Matt have separte houses and they swear this works well for them and they couldnt be happier.
Until Brenda moves into the neighbourhood .
She is obssessed with Sylvie and just how much can you trust.
In the meantime one girl is missing, one is dead . The suspect list is small.
My Husband Next Door is well plotted and will keep you guessing until the end.

I guessed the abducter early on but the journey to it being confirmed was brilliant. I flew through this book and its got me desperate to read more from this author.
I really warmed to Brenda and her quirky ways and Sylvies strength was admirable.
A thoroughly enjoyable read from a new to me author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shocking turns in this mystery by K.L. Slater. I really enjoyed guessing, being wrong and reading some twists that I did not see coming!
Sylvie and Matt are married but each has their own houses two doors down from each other. This may seem unusual, but it works for the happy couple. Sylvie's neighbor rents out her home to a retired nurse, Brenda, and the new neighbor becomes obsessed with Sylvie and her family. When two young women in the neighborhood go missing, Brenda attempts to convince Sylvie that it is her husband who is the serial kidnapper.
This psychological thriller had shocking moments and very flawed characters which are the perfect combination for a modern mystery.

Another outstanding read from KL Slater.
Her success lies in building the most credible yet intriguing situations, and leaving us wondering until the exciting last minute.
In My Husband Next Door, the trendy practice of married couples who don't live together is what Sylvie and husband Matt, 10 years younger, do. It's working fine until a new neighbour, a former nurse, moves in across the road. She becomes too indispensable at Sylvie's as she helps out when her daughter has a difficult birth. In the background, a local young woman has gone missing. Then a body is found. Is it the missing girl, and what does Matt know about it? Brenda, the nosey neighbour, has her own interpretation.
Gripping stuff and a very satisfying ending beyond the solving of the crime(s).

really enjoyed this. thrilling and downright addictive. i found the story to be fast paced and kept me intrigued all throughout. finished in one night and perfect for a quick read

A brilliant fast paced read, in fact i think it is this author's best so far.
I really had a job putting it down.
Murder, kidnapping its got the lot and don't even get me started on Brenda!!
This is one not to be missed. Just sorry i finished it.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
Huge five stars from me.

Another brilliant K.L. Slater book! So many twists, I was gripped all the way through.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this arc

What would you choose if you were married to the man of your dreams? Would you prefer to live together, or would you actually be fine—or maybe even happier—living close by but each in your own house? Would you trust each other, or would it be the perfect setup to do as you please?
When I read about the arrangement between Matt and Sylvie, I was surprised. Of course, here in Belgium we know the concept of a LAT (Living Apart Together) relationship, but that usually applies to people who aren’t married. For us, married couples are required to share the same official residence, whereas in the UK this is not the case. It was quite amusing to see how things differ from country to country. :)
Sylvie and Matt are very satisfied with this situation, although I had the impression that Matt might have been just a little happier with it than his wife. He sometimes struck me as behaving more like a bachelor, and whenever Sylvie and her daughter could have used a helping hand, it was always their neighbor Brenda who stepped in. I do understand Matt’s reaction, but it could have been easily solved if he had simply taken responsibility.
When the two young women disappear, it seemed only logical to point the finger at a particular person. That was also my immediate thought, and just from the title alone, I was convinced he had something to do with it. Was that the right conclusion, or just a clever trick by the author to mislead us?
As the story unfolds, we learn more and more about the secrets the characters are hiding—and there were far more than I could have imagined. Once again, proof that people often take advantage of someone’s trust. A shame really, because in real life this happens too, often at the hands of those closest to us.
Some things can be forgiven, but others cross a line and break bonds that can never be repaired.
I read this book with fascination from start to finish and absolutely loved it. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! The revelations, the characters, the buildup—everything was spot on and perfectly balanced. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you.

Action, twists, happily married but living in different homes, a missing woman and a dead woman and LOTS of secrets make this a great story with an ending I didn’t see coming. The story moves along at a fairly good pace although it bogged down a little in the middle. Most of the characters are likable and some not so much. When all the secrets came out I was as surprised as many of the characters. I very much enjoyed this book and the storyline and I recommend it if you like mysteries and thrillers. I received a copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I have been a big K. L. Slater fan for a long time, and she has done it again with another tense and addictive domestic thriller. My Husband Next Door hooked me from the very first chapter with its intriguing premise: a marriage fractured by secrets, lies, and the unsettling presence of a husband who lives two doors down. The story slowly peels back layers of mistrust and betrayal, keeping you constantly second-guessing who to believe and what’s really going on behind closed doors.
Slater’s strength lies in her ability to create flawed yet believable (and slightly unhinged) characters whose choices feel both shocking and all too real. The pacing is sharp, with plenty of twists and turns that keep you racing through the pages, and just when you think you have the truth figured out, another reveal changes everything.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers packed with tension, manipulative relationships, and explosive secrets, My Husband Next Door is a must-read. It’s clever, unsettling, and guaranteed to keep you gripped right to the final page.

This was a heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat! It was fast paced, edge of the seat thriller that was extremely well executed. I was gripped from the very first page!
I loved the characters and the storyline
I recommend reading this book straight away definitely 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book had it all suspenseful chapters and page turner moments that led to many twists and turns followed by a great but shocking finale!
