Another lovely book in the Thank You, World Series! Dan McCauley has created such a lovely story here in this book. I especially loved when he referred to snow as “tiny gifts from the sky” because what a beautiful way to see the world. The illustrations by Jo Loring-Fisher are just stunning and complete the story being told; it wouldn’t be the same without this artwork. Jo somehow brings warmth to the cold outdoors when she captures the love between this family of four. The colors and patterns and shapes are just gorgeous.

This book is wonderful for children to have as a reminder to look around and find the beauty in your world. It teaches kids to show and speak the things that they’re grateful for. The practical application in the back for parents and caregivers is perhaps my favorite as it gives us real world opportunities to get outside and to have fun with our kiddos. Sometimes we get in a rut or in the mindset that we need an invitation to do something new. This part of the book is that invitation!

Thank you to NetGalley and to Free Spirit Publishing for the ARC of this in exchange for my feedback!

As an adult I loved the sensory language to make you as if you were experiencing the scenes within this book. I enjoyed that visual imagery and the soft colour pallet in the illustrations. For a child this type of novel may come across a little boring, as my niece did find. It did not keep her attention and the themes went over her head. The colours could have been more vibrant to grab a child’s attention.

Thank You, Snow is about a family of three: a mother, father and child. The parents take their child outside in the cold because it’s snowing. Together as a family they play in the snow even making snow angels. They also say thank you to the snow and other things in nature.

The book is a short story for young children. It teaches children and adults to take time to appreciate little things and to be thankful.

The illustrations and story were cosy and made me look forward to winter, especially snow.

Another great book in the Thank You, World series! I love how each of these books focus on gratitude, especially in circumstances that are not ideal. In Thank You, Snow, we see the main character’s attitude towards the cold and snow change once she adventures out into it with her family. They spend time appreciating how the snow looks and feels, the smell of the trees, and the joy of being together. Just as with previous books in the series, the illustrations are beautiful and help breathe life into the story!

This was a beautifully whimsical book and an easy 5 stars. It was also one of those rare books in which I love the text and artwork equally and felt that they blended together powerfully. I could tell that each word was chosen carefully, and the final product was poetic while still be accessible to its audience. And the illustrations were soft and cozy just like the subject matter. Reading this has me wishing for winter!

I thought this was a great picture book for the winter time! It teaches being grateful for the snow, and for everything around you. The art is really lovely, and I love how cozy it felt to read. I could imagine being curled up in the evening, reading this to my child. I also liked the notes at the end, and the little questions and conversation starters it gave you to discuss. All in all, I'd recommend this book as a nice winter read for your children.

Thank you for the eARC!

My toddler and I really liked this story, I particularly liked the art style as well. I like that the message was essentially finding the good in what we may see as an nconvenience.

I love when children’s books have prompts in the back for the adult reader, to be able to further the discussion about the book.

It’s snowing outside. When her parents invite the little girl to go out, she hesitates because it’s so cold, and at home she’s warm under her cozy blanket. But when she finally agrees, she realizes how beautiful it is outside and how magical the snow truly is!

This is a wonderful story that brings warm and nostalgic feelings. While reading, I found myself remembering my own childhood and how I used to play outside in the winter. I love snow, and this season always feels magical to me.

The book also has beautiful illustrations that perfectly complement the story and give young readers a clear sense of the events in the book.

This was an adorable story - I loved the “breathe in, breathe out” page and connection to the readers physical experience with snow. The artwork was stunning also!! Will definitely purchase for the kiddos in my life and I know it will be a favorite!

𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: This picture book is such a little gem. The illustrations are absolutely stunning and make you want to slow down and take in every page. The story itself feels just as peaceful, encouraging kids (and honestly, adults too) to pause, notice the beauty in nature, and show gratitude for the earth. It’s not flashy or fast-paced, it’s gentle and calming.

I also loved the discussion questions at the end. They’re thoughtful without feeling heavy, and they open the door for great conversations about gratitude and noticing the little things around us. Altogether, it’s a sweet and inspiring read that leaves you feeling grounded and thankful, perfect for sharing at story time or just as a quiet moment to enjoy together.
