The only reason this is getting two stars versus one star is the fact that I finished it. Zero Day had such a promising premise; however, the execution, for me, fell way short. That being said, I know there are readers who will absolutely enjoy every last word of the story.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

Zero Day by Jan Gangsei has been a huge hit within my classroom over the years. It's fast paced and full of suspense as the reader tries to figure out if Addi will complete what she came to do when she returns back to her family in the White House. This book picked up popularity again this year in 2020 and students were devouring it and asking for more!

Good book, nice twists, kept interest. I have already purchased this title for my high school library. I also rated it 4 stars on Goodreads.

Teens able to hack into the White House network? Check! Kids who were barely able to drive counter-blackmailing the head of the United States cyberterrorist department? You betcha. Sixteen year olds able to evade the Secret Service not once, but multiple times? This is the book for you! Teens who scoop national newspapers and award winning journalists and run a podcast out of a janitor's room in the local high school? It's a given!

Despite my personal misgivings about this book (see above), it will probably be one I recommend to middle grade / high school readers. What kid doesn't think he or she is the smartest one in the room? I can't imagine that pre-teens and teens wouldn't enjoy this book where, not only the kids are the smartest ones in the room, but clearly in the ENTIRE WORLD. Additionally, it got great reviews from SLJ and Booklist, which are sources I trust.

Readers should perhaps be warned that the ending leaves many unanswered questions and it is assumed there will be a continuation of the story in future books, although I couldn't find anything on the author's website confirming this.
