I received an e-ARC of Lithium 6 from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Lithium 6 is a story about the theft of Lithium 6 and Plutonium and the antiterrorism response to it.

I don't know if it's a translation issue or an issue with the original text, but I found the book difficult to read - the character interactions were stilted and the main characters grating. The story is also highly technical; it felt much more like technical writing than fiction.

I typically like doomsday/apocalyptic fiction, but this one is a pass for me.

Risto Isomäki is worldclass in creating characters and realities that blend thriller with climates fiction. He is the pioneer of climate thrillers. Unlike his most known work, Sands of Sarasvati, Lithium-6 focuses on nuclear power and the very serious threats that it poses both politically ad well as environmentally. In this alternative history a nuclear bomb exploded in the US in 1954. The fallout - literal and figurative - is devastating. Isomäki's writing is straightforward and he doesn't mollycoddle readers. Fastpaced narrative leads our main characters soon to suspect terrorism - but by whom?
The themes of Lithium 6 remain topical - if not even more burning - even decades later. I definitely recommend this for the fans of climate thrillers.
