Four years ago, Leah Carson ;eft her abusive husband, and reported him for stalking. Most of his co-workers didn't believe her, you see, he was a police officer. When he breaks into her home, ambushes her and stabs her 23 times, they finally believe her. He flees and is killed in a car accident, his body burned beyond recognition. Leah continues her education becoming a veterinarian and remains in Nashville, where she went to school. Lately, she is beginning to wonder if he is really dead. Things start happening, missing keys, a flat tire, charges on her credit card, and mysterious flowers. All easily explained away if the pattern wasn’t so terrifyingly familiar. Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent Alex Morgan suspects something. and begins to watch over her. She has a new friend that she has been running with, and they have a familiar past. She has just left her husband, local sheriff and he wasn't happy. When her friend’s body is found, stabbed twenty-three times, Leah knows her past has found her. Can Alex keep her safe? Has her husband returned, seemingly from the dead?
This is the 3rd book in this series, but each book is about a different sibling, so this can easily be read as a standalone story. Of course if you want to read the first two, there are probably spoilers in this one. I really enjoyed this romantic suspense, crime thriller. I was on the edge of my seat hoping that they would find Phillip, her husband, and put an end to his reign of terror. The story is told from various POVs, including the killer. His obsession with Leah and those close to her was sinister. Every time she went somewhere alone, I was yelling at the book. Alex is a brooding hero. He works for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and there are some hard feelings between him and the local police. His brother is a detective and his sister is a CSI, so they are also in the story. I liked their relationship, especially how they always had each other's backs. As this story ratcheted up, I was on the edge of my seat, and read long after I should have been asleep. The reveal of what was happening was jaw dropping, a twist I didn't see coming until just before the author shared it with us. A great romantic suspense, twisty thriller and I enjoyed and hope to read the previous books in this series.

Well put together! Not what or who you would think and that's what makes it even better! Attention grabber and keeper and on the edge of the seat read!

Thanks so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for giving me access to this book. Our patrons love a good psychological thriller. I felt this would be great for our collection of suspense novels. I will be recommending this novel to many of the patrons who are asking for suggestions.

As usual Burton has excelled herself with this one. A rich combination of thriller and romance that keeps you on your toes till the end. Delightful characterisation , a grueling cat and mouse and tension aplenty. This is a good read which I thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended for those who like a dash of romance with your gritty crime thrillers

I really struggled to connect with this book and as a result I didn’t finish it . I had tried to read it a second time but unfortunately I was still unable to enjoy it.

This one worked for me on all levels! I loved Leah and Alex and the story of their developing relationship. The suspenseful storyline captured my attention and held it throughout the book. I thought the balance of romance and suspense was perfect. This is my favorite book by the author to date, and I look forward to more of the series.

4.5 stars for I'll Never Let You Go by Mary Burton.
'Till death do us part.'
Some people take their marriage vows more seriously than others. Leah's husband Philip is one of them.
After stabbing Leah 23 times, Philip is declared dead following a car accident.
But 4 years later, strange things are beginning to happen again.
Leah has a mantra 'He's gone. He can't hurt me. I'm safe. '
But deep down, she doesn't believe it.
Mary Burton has struck exactly the right balance in this deftly written thriller. There is a little romance, but not too much. There are plenty of twists and turns in the plot; none of them obvious. She kept me guessing, and reading.
And she is going to keep me reading. This is the second book I have enjoyed from this author and I will be looking for more.
NB: Although this is the third book in The Morgans of Nashville series it works perfectly well as a stand alone.
Thank you to Kensington Books via Netgalley for providing a digital copy of I'll Never Let You Go by Mary Burton for review.

The mystery was brilliant with loads of red herrings to keep me guessing! The main characters and their romance were more of a problem and dropped this from a 5 star read to a 3.
Leah was nice but damaged. It was more than understandable but she was so closed off that there was no progression in her attraction and romance with Alex, it just kind of lurched from one event to the next without any supporting thoughts or feelings from her to back it up. As for Alex, I pretty much knew as much about him at the end as I did in the beginning. He is described as stoic and an iceman and this remains true throughout and very little of his feelings are revealed even in his private thoughts.
* Minor Spoiler *
Even the epilogue showed hardly any affection between them, and considering it was set 4 months after the main story there seemed to have been no progression in their relationship.
All in all I thought this part of the story was a missed opportunity as if the romance had been handled better then this would have definitely been a 5 star read but as it is I would recommend it to those looking for a solid mystery, but avoid if romance holds equal billing in your requirements.
