The Captain's Christmas Bride Annie Burrows

I love Christmas historical romances because they're so festive and cozy and feel-good. It's like curling up in a blanket with hot cocoa for me. Things were going so well for me with this book until the formulaic big misunderstanding that threatens to tear the couple apart happened. Alec, the hero, turned into a character I just didn't like anymore, and it took the joy right out of my reading experience. He was a jerk, he begged and pleaded for forgiveness, and then all was tied up in a Christmas bow. I just didn't buy it. The writing was well done, and I really liked Lady Julia until I saw how she handled this big misunderstanding. I wish the drama hadn't occurred at all, and that we just got to see the two leads fall in love. I was disappointed.
