Megan Hart is one of those writers that I will always return to. I read this book last year and I still remember all the hurt and comfort from it. It’s amazing how she writes s*x with such ease. I love smut and erotica, but Hart’s erotica is poetic. It’s beautiful because it embraces a lot of sides.
The hurt from Effie that seems to want to purge all those feelings, the way she wants to find healing through her escapades and trying to get rid of all her past and guilt, it’s heartbreaking. Heath is ultimately the only one who understands her. Effie needs Heath because he’s the only one that can help her through the darkness of their past. She will never let go of that side of her life and once she learns that, she’s able to start. Effie does not need to close that side of her life and move on. She needs to accept that it happened and that part of her will always be there.
“Hold me Close” is beautiful, sad, but truly one of those books that I will remember fondly throughout my life. I hope to never run out of Hart’s books because they really make me happy.

This was a really good book, although sometimes tough to read. The subject matter was rough. Effie and Heath have been in a relationship for years, although not a very healthy one. As teens, they were kidnapped and held together. They suffered unspeakable horrors and neither have been able to really put it behind them and heal. In this book, they both grow and try to come to terms with what they experienced. As they do this, they must decide whether they have a future together.
This book was very sad and melancholic at times, and it was rough to read about some of what these two went through. I liked these two main characters and wanted the to be okay. Hart can always pull lots of emotion from me, and this one was very true to that.
