I’m totally a sucker for big burly sensitive men. Thorn should be a prick but when he sees brave, beautiful, totally-in-over-her-head Lexi bravely and stupidly trying to avenge her best friend’s murder, something inside of him softens just enough to change the fate of the Dragon Kings. This seventh installment in the Dark Kings series proves what fans of Donna Grant already know—dragons are addictive.

Once you get started you won’t want to stop.

Danger, destiny, death and desire. There is a war on earth and, as usual, we stupid humans odn’t know anything about it. The Dragon Kings are trying to protect us, but the Dark Fae are quickly closing in luring us all to our deaths one by one in an attempt to take over the earth. Caught in the middle of this war Lexi doesn’t know what she’s getting into when she starts stalking those who look like the man who killed her best friend. The King’s aren’t supposed to care about individual humans, they are simply supposed to protect the hordes. But love changes things.

In reading this novel, I felt very much like Lexi, caught up in the middle of something I didn’t know was happening, joining the story in the middle. But Grant is a wizard of a writer, able to engage new comers to the series without being monotonous for those already fully entrenched. This book makes me want to go back and read all the others, and I’m totally ready for Smoldering Hunger the next book in the series.
