I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

I honestly went into this story thinking these characters were going to meet in their 20's or so, but the actually meet when they are in high school! Definitely wasn't expecting that, but I wasn't mad at the additional background of how they met and how they reacted toward each other.

I really love Indiana in this story - she's so sweet and naive, but strong and determined all in one little package. And Carter was sure to remind her of her size every time he called her "kid". Carter was a brooding, moody, stubborn 17 year old. He really let that one moment bury itself inside of him and really shaped him into the person he was becoming. What little things in life that have such a huge meaning - this is a prime example of that.

I loved the moments when they were able to act on their feelings and not think of "what if" afterward. It didn't happen that often in this book, but when it did I loved ever second of it.

There is a lot that happens in this book, and while I appreciated the information, I feel that it could have been shortened just a little bit.

Otherwise I enjoyed this story and I'm glad I finally got around to reading it!

I think you have to be in the right headspace to like this book. I just couldn't get passed what a dick Carter was. I'm not sure if later in the book there's a better explanation but just because your grandfather called you a bastard one time doesn't mean you get license to treat women like disposable rag dolls. Indiana was a doormat and she's the typical virginal lead who likes to call other girls "sluts" and "whores." Maybe it got better late on, but I just couldn't get into it. Did not finish.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review

Wow, what a long book....this felt like a trilogy in one. Carters a bastard, both real and in person. Then he meets the girl next store and we'll destiny has prevailed. There was a lot of different things going on at once in this book which drew it out. In my opinion too long. It was well written but I get bored when I'm pulled in too many directions. Carter had a lot of emotional baggage, Indiana was a sweet girl brought up by her cop dad without the benefit of a mother. Both drawn to each other. Case of boy meets girl, love/hate drama. Entertainment is three stars. I had to pull to get through all of it. Way too long.
