REVIEW: Sin & Suffer is book #2 and final book in the Pure Corruption series. This time around Kill and Cleo are finally in-tune with their feelings for one another. Cleo has finally discovered who she is and why she is in the situation she found herself. Once again in danger in the hands of those who tried to killed her the first time. However, this time around she knows what is at stake and why.
I found myself enjoying this book a lot more than I did book #1, perhaps because I gotten to know the ins and outs of these characters and what pushes them to do the things they do. This time around we get a better understanding of Kill’s need for vengeance and overall plan. The author kept Kill’s plan hidden and the details so scarce that I was waiting for the overall execution to become a mash of rushed scenes and unpredictable actions by these characters. What we got instead was a well calculated and executed plan that finalized all Kill’s loose ends. While at times certain things gave an indication that some loyalties would be tested and characters would would be double crossing, at the end those loyal to Kill proved their loyalties and those who tried to remove and come between him and his love for Cleo paid the ultimate price.
Overall, Sin & Suffer was a lot better executed, more intriguing and gritty than book one. And once again Pepper Winters has given us a story that touches our heart while also making it almost impossible to put the book down. I am hoping to see these characters at some point, I would love to see where some of these characters are going and perhaps a bit more into Kill & Cleo’s life.
