A well-written, well-researched account of one of the most interesting and tumultuous times in Shanghai/Chinese history. SHANGHAI 1937 is a relatively brief account of the year, which means readers won't have to wade through extraneous detail or unnecessary diversions.
An excellent introduction to this period of Chinese history. Recommended. (I'd also recommend Paul French's Penguin China Special that cover the same conflict.)
