This novella was a good read. I enjoyed the plot and the characters. The story contains romance, action, and adventure as well as some betrayal.
Thomasina MacDonell disguises herself as a boy to find her brother. She has be betrothed to a man by her father to cover his debts. Tommy runs into Sean O'Cisoghe, who is riding her horse. She claims he stole her horse but Sean says otherwise. Sean traded a knife to borrow the horse and he returns he will receive the knife back. Sean believed he was in love with a woman, but she married someone else. As the story progresses, he realizes it was more of an infatuation.
Tommy and Sean travel together to find her brother and run into trouble along the way. Tommy and Sean enjoy battering with each other. Sean knows Tommy is a woman but keeps her secret. They also run into her father at one point, who has arranged a marriage for Tommy. Sean gives her father money to cover his debts so she could marry him instead. After all, they are both attracted to each other and have feelings for each other. Tommy still feels she is being bartered and Sean leaves. Tommy and her brother go after Sean and run into their father who gives Sean's money as a dowry for Tommy. Niall, Tommy's brother says she is engaged to another. However, Sean has been accused of murder of a Norman and they need to free him. Will Sean be able to prove his innocence? Will Sean and Tommy see that they are right for each other?
