The Calling is the second book in the Seer series and it was just not for me. There were some things in it that did not sit well with me, personally, and I'm nervous about how the story will finish in the last book (if it goes how I suspect, then I will definitely not be a fan).
All in all, I just didn't connect with this book.

A great continuation from the first book. It starts with Remko leading the rebellion against the Authority to save those who have been captured and those who have been called. It's fast pace, full of action and suspense. There's plenty of truths revealed in this book that I found could be applied to my own life. Remko is struggling with alot of demons inside and hasn't fully had a n awaking to the truth yet, which causes him to believe the lies that plague his mind. This leads to strain between him and his wife Carrington. As they race to save people from the Authority and figure out what this new experiment the Authority is conducting on the citizens of the city and on prisoners, a mole is in the rebellion camp and if they don't figure out who it is soon they may not survive. I do have to warn you, DO NOT read the synopsis for book three before you finish The Calling! I did on accident and totally ruined the ending for myself a bit. I also have to say,I happily surprised to see not just Carrington, but another character see a field when communing with the Father because it's the same thing I see when I do,for years I've pictured a field of flowers with a tree on one side!

The Calling, book two in the Seer Series by Rachelle Dekker, is an exciting fantasy, dystopian, thriller that teens will absolutely love. Filled with interesting and fun characters and lots of fast-paced action, this is a story that readers will not want to put down. Rachelle has plenty of intense scenes filled with anticipation and emotion that will draw reader in from page one. This is one of those books that readers will not want to miss out on as it marvelously continues the story from book one, The Choosing. I would recommend this novel to readers that are ready for an exciting and thrilling journey with plenty of mystery and action.
Rated PG: Some violence; intense situations; nothing graphic.

I really enjoyed this book. Rachelle Dekker really takes after her dad! This book had so much drama and suspense that I would be on edge wondering what would happen next. I loved the deep emotions that I saw in Carrington and Remko when they thought they lost each other.; I felt the burdens of what Remko went through and could relate to his self-doubts. I've already started the 3rd book in the series and that book so far is as exciting as this one and the Choosing.

Though the book read well, I just couldn't get interested in it.

I could not bring myself to finish this book. It didn't have the same charm that the first book had, and left me uninterested after the first few chapters. The story felt lackluster. This book was not for me.
