Amy Jo Cousins is a great writer. Tom and Reese are very likeable characters but this book was just too much angst and drama for me. I found it a little depressing. Despite the outcome... getting there was a chore. I understand the desire of a writer to portray a gay couple in real life situations but for me, I just felt there was too much ordinary, day to day survival plot here. Maybe because I'm in a 25 year relationship-- have been through these trying times-- I just didn't need to read about it. I think if it had been infused with more humor or a strong subplot that stepped away from the struggles-- then it might have been more appealing. Again, Cousins writes very well and I have really enjoyed other work by her. This one,just left me cold.
