This was a light, fun, slightly bizarre, funny read. The writing was good, I could definitely tell it was translated, not that I minded that. I love scandinavian fiction and this ticked all those boxes. I laughed out loud a couple of times which is no easy thing. I can't 100% tell you what happened throughout the whole story, it was strange and things happened fast!!

I absolutely adored the first book 'The 100 year old man who climbed out of the window and disappeared' so I was excited to read the next zany book from Jonas Jonasson!
This has the religious aspect I'm not a fan of, but I should have been alerted to that by the title - Anders is questioning his work as a hitman and his place in the world - i.e. the meaning of life.
This book had the similar set up of his previous work, that one had a kind of Forrest Gump-esque romp through history, and this one focuses on a kind of quirky version of Swedish gangsters and related clichés'
The worst this though - it wasn't really very funny to me.
Some people will love this though!

I loved the concept but unfortunately wasn't for me, I just didn't find it as witty as it had been portrayed. I do think this was potentially more the fact I was expecting something else as this writer does have very successful novels that follow the same concepts.

A book in a similar vein to Jonasson's The Hundred Year Old man...while it wasn't as hilarious as his first, would still recommend as a summer read.

Fun to read, although after a while things became slightly repetitive. There were times I smiled, although I didn't enjoy it quite as much as The Hundred Year Old Man. Still, I would recommend this book.

this is one of those books that the reader will either feel infuriated by and be utterly frustrated by because they don't see how this is humorous or anything wroth reading -sadly this is mostly my personal experience with this book- or they will connect instantly with the humour and love this novel for the different way the other wrote this and chose to portray his characters.

As i said for me personally it didn't work. but at least i tried it and i can see why other might love it!

Oh dear, what a disappointment. I loved Jonasson's first two books, this not at all. It was all over the place and totally devoid of any of the humour in his previous books.

A roller coaster of a book; a laugh out loud comedy, a thriller, an action story, several chase scenes and even religion (slightly irreverent) all thrown together in this must read book.

A humorous take on morality, what is it that we do that's kind and generous and what is it that we do that's selfish and bad. Actually is it selfish and bad? Can it not help some people? What do you get if you mix together a hitman, a female priest and a male receptionist? So much fun that you'll never want to stop reading, you'll want to be on their road trip with them and (I never thought I'd hear myself say this) you'll be routing for a killer to win. There's even some unusual bible references thrown in for good measure,

If you like your humour, dry, ironic and giving you pause for thought, read this comedy, thriller, road trip book. I think it's so unusual that it's invented its own genre.

A real shame, I wanted to love this book as much as the last two, but Jonasson's latest just did not work for me. The humour seemed forced, the plot was meandering and pointless and the characters did not gel nor endear themselves to me. Again, I would not judge Jonasson on this book alone (his last two were fantastic) but I would give this one a miss.
