This is a visually stunning book. I had initially read the book when I was a vegetarian, rendering a few of the recipes inedible with my diet. In review, the recipes look simple, but not flavorless. There is an emphasis on slower eating, on making the food you eat from scratch (as the author lived off the land and became an expert at making almost everything from scratch).

One note: yikes! Be weary of the references to raw milk. This is not light stuff, and any recommendations about pasteurization vs. non-pasteurization should be checked with a dietitian/doctor.

This would make an excellent coffee table book and gift for an Anthropologie-esque friend. Gorgeous!
