Fiction (Adult), Mystery, Thrillers, Horror, Violence, Abuse

Ray Nelson lives alone. His mother died, his father has been missing for a long time, and his sister, Stephanie is estranged. She has been involved in drugs and prostitution. As many times as Ray tried to help her, she always went back to what she knew.

Ray is a huge man, pale, and scarred. He spends most nights riding the elevated railroad and boxing. His neighbor’s teenage daughter, Natalie, is friendly with him. Her mother and father barely pay her any attention. As a fifteen-year-old girl, she needed someone to teach her how to protect herself. Things begin to unravel for Ray. A violent fight, unexpected news of a relative, and a mysterious man in a white

The story has a steady pace, developed characters, and is written in the third person point of view. The underlying topic of their stories is abuse: sexual, physical, and emotional. It is hard subject matter to read but well written.

Breaker is a very good book. I couldn't put it down. There are enough twists and turns to really keep a person thinking. Every character has a secret, a hidden darkness, and all of them utilize it in different ways. From the beginning you're going to get a gut punch, which is always a favorite of mine..
